As i said, i have nothing against the ls1 swap. I hate when the ********* get on here and act like they are hardshit and there cars are so much better because they have an ls1. No one cares if you have "found your cars weakness". There have been thread after thread made by this guy, with every post saying something bad about the rotary and how much better his v8 is. It causes arguements every single time, its stupid. its the motor that came with the car, get over it. I dont recall ever saying anything to you, but i assume your sticking up for a fellow ls1, nice one buddy.

I have only started two threads about my car.One to show the rx7 that i got and what i was doing to it and another to find other swapped cars in the area and now you call me a ******** because of that. I dont see nothing wrong with my posts. You say you dont have nothing against the ls1 swap but i see plenty of threads posted that are showing "someone got a rx7" , and then later on they post "looking for local rx7s", you dont seem to think their *********.
turbodrx7 you never said anything to Joey just like i never said anything to you and you posted your opinion of me.I dont see your point. What are you trying to get out of argueing with me?

I'll give you the a few real reasons V8 Swaps are done.

1. I hate imports, domestics rool.

2. Bought a high mileage unmaintained car, blew it up the second day they owned it and hopped on the misinformed bandwagon of the "Un-reliable rotary".

3. Overboosted, starved the motor of oil, or overheated the car. And promtly posted on the rx7club that "the motor just quit".

The rx7 platform, plus the torque curve of an LS1 is a great streetable combination and you really can't go wrong, If my motor ever goes (and trust me, I'll blame myself when it happens.) I'd love to try out an LS1.

Rx7's are not unreliable. People just like to place the blame on why their motor failed on everything but themselves.

damn, didn't anyone see my "LOL" at the end of that statement? Just throwing a bit of sarcasm in the mix, I really don't care what you do with your 7, it's your car. It's kinda on the same route as throwning a mustang 5.0 motor into a miata. I've only seen one and it was bad as ****.

As a matter of fact, I have a '90 GXL that I bought for a parts car to get my vert running and am considering throwing one of my 325hp 327 motors in it that I have left over from one of my '66 El Camino projects. No computer just a distributer, rotor, plug wires and plugs is all I want to deal with.

I can also place blame on former owners - out of 4 RX7's I've owned, not a single one had a functional engine when I bought it. And two of them were sold with V8's to happy customers who bought them specifically because of the powertrain swap

I've been tempted to do that to an FD for a while now. GN motors are sexy
I just don't know where to get it done and I'm not up to that task myself.

I hear ya, I bought my car from a guy who had the dealer drop in a reman, sans wastegate actuator.

I bought it with a trashed rear rotor/housing. Good discount

Not sure if the kit is available for the V6 into an FD, but if it is you won't believe how easy it is to do the swap. Check with Granny's and Hinson since they're the two most common vendors. Wiring is the hardest part, and that's not a big deal. It's a fairly easy swap into an FC (which is more comfortable for me to drive than an FD).

For the GN motor, I'm not sure if you'd run into any issues with routing the turbo piping (because who would do it without an intercooler) but if Hinson can twin-turbo an LS1 I know it can't be too tough when it's got two less cylinders with the same basic configuration. Honestly, I think tuning would be the hardest thing out of the whole deal.

4.1 Buick Grand National Motor, 70mm Turbo, Auto Trans, Viper 3.08 rear, AC, PS and Bose Stereo. Here are some pictures from the last car show at Daytona.

Only went to the track once with it right after I put it together. It ran 11.2 @ 128mph with a 2.4 short time. That was with the stock 4.10 gears in OD before the 1/8th mile. Looking forward to getting back to the track now that the car has 3.08 gears. Car dyno'ed at 540hp at the wheels and engine wasn't quite running right. That was 2 years ago and I've just been driving it around since. Interior is completely stock and dash is fully functional. The only tip off that something isn't right about the car is the exhaust obviously doesn't sound like a rotard. Other than that it looks stock but drives like a missle in a straight line.

Oh yeah, no kits.

The factory Buick engines can be had for about $3k on the high side. This would likely come with everything like turbo, transmission, ECM, wiring harness, manifolds ect. Check out www.TurboBuicks.com in the Parts For Sale section as there are always deals in there. Even with a stock engine and stock turbo you could achieve ~400hp and lots more torque.
