10th Anniversary RX7....how many left?
10th Anniversary RX7....how many left?
I have a Turbo II 10th Anniversary model RX7 that I purchased new in 88'. The car is bone stock, has less than 7k original miles, has always been garaged, covered, and still smells new. I'm curious to learn how many of this specific model might still be on the road, and how much the car might be worth.
It's hard to say how many of the original 1500 are still around. We have one that we bought last year with 118K miles. It was also stock. We have played with it as you can see from our signature. There was one recently in Canada, like yours with low mileage (not as low as yours) that sold for around $9000 (not sure if that was Canadian or US). The problem is that even though it is a limited edition car and has low miles, just the fact that it has been sitting around for all of those years introduces the chance of issues. Do you want to sell the car? Is that why you posted? If you do, PM me and let me know what your plans are.
90% of whats out there for 10th AE's are run ragged and **** all over. The paint never held up cause all mazda paint pretty much sucked. It's definately worth some money just because of the low miles MORE so then it being a 10th AE.
In terms of anniversary edition cars, 10th's are low on the list just because they are pretty much the same car with some minor changes. It still has the same engine and same horsepower. Infact if offered I think most people that know Rx-7's would easily take an 89 S5 T2 Rx7 over an 88 S4 10th AE. The bottom line is, the car hasn't appreciated more then what it was worth when you bought it new.
Needless to say, throw it on ebay, somebody will pay 15 grand for it

I didn't suppose it had appreciated beyond ( or even near ) original MSRP, because Japanese cars generally don't have the pedigree to garner mega-buck collector prices. The car really is in amazing condition however, and I've never allowed it to sit for extended periods of time without running. 15 grand would make me happy. Thanks for the response.

I have one too with only 80K on the Odometer ... I was going to keep it stock but its now become a project car ... motor ran great but will now be dropping in a 13b-rew I had laying around ... I already have the mounts and just when I feel like dealing with the wiring issue ... ugh ... LOL ... I'm giving up my RB20 240 to keep my 10th ann ... I would never sell it. Let the car hit the 20yr mark before you sell it ... unless you get a juicy offer that is ...
The car is especially rare since it has 7k on it. It is only worth what people are willing to pay. Check out hemmings and some collector sites for one that is similar. If ou are patient, you should get a pretty penny for it.

The Canadian 10AE was sold for $9k CAD.
If you kept it in perfect running condition, I wouldn't be surprised if you got $10k USD. If you sit on it, maybe as much as $15k.
The problem is that $10k - $15k puts you in FD or 400hp FC range, so you'd have to find an enthusiast, a collector, or a sucker to actually get that much for your 10AE.
I say forget the price and appreciate the beauty. And drive it more.
