$20 wasted

Well, I went down to the track today (Englishtown) and threw away $20 to get in. I saw some of the most ugly-*** cars I've ever seen (mostly in the Honda camp. Some in the Mitsubishi). There was a vette with everything you can possibly find to put on a car! Tv's where the front signal lights go, in the engine bay, all over the ugly-*** interior...it was disgusting! Hondas with big-*** widebody kits and no power to match. Disgusting bodywork and paint! Oooh, it was terrible! There was a black FD with yellow tints and big chrome wheels! What a nightmare it was for me! There was an RX-8 with a bunch of trophies around it, why? I have no idea 'cause it did'nt look very show worthy (maybe it was the only RX-8 in it's category at the show he attends).
The racing was no better either. Seems like all the 7's were breaking. A red FD with Florida plates started it off. Romie (T&R Racing) broke next then, a convertible 2nd gen, seemed like it would've made a nice pass....if it did'nt break! What a friggin day!!
Highlight of the day: A Mini Cooper from Cali made a 10.6 pass. There was a nice Audi S4 in the car show section with 2 nice size turbo's sticking out of the hood. A few other clean cars but, for the most part, the show sucked. Oh yeah, the bikini contest! Kinda sucked too! I'm black, was not up on stage but this black girl in the contest embarrissed me!! I was towards the back and could see about 5 layers of make-up on her face! She was bony and danced like her day job has something to do with a pole! I'm so happy the race season is almost over!

Sevensix, I used to live in Cali (San Diego) and from attending all the car shows and the Import Auto Salon there, I now judge every show I go to from the quality of cars and work I've seen at those shows. I lived in Houston for a while and attended their races and shows. Some came close but I've not been very impressed for a while now....I need to move back to Cali

hahaha I seen that vette also! at atco raceway, why would you stick lcd tv's in your front bumper? also did you see the seats in it? and pretty much the whole car just seemed yucky to me! I must also agree I am pretty dissapointed with all the car shows around because of what you just said. Disgusting bodywork and paint that's all it seemed for me at car shows and then you see most of the cars have trophies its like wtf did they buy themselve that trophie or no?

They must've bought the trophies 'cause I don't see how some of them could've won 1st place at a car show. Oh yeah, there was a nice looking Altezza at the same boothe as the Audi S4 that I mentioned earlier. There was a guy cleaning the engine bay and I take a look. The damn drive belt schredded one groove off, two more were worn down and it was about to jump off one of the pulleys. I told the guy and he looks at me like..is'nt that the way it's suppose to be?! Friggin unbelievable!

I guess it's how you've been following the classes. I thought this was one of the best events I ever went to at Etown. I went strictly to watch the modified class run. I spent zero time watching the car show guys, I never do. Bracket classes are boring as well.

I think most I know went to see the modified class run that was an almost all rotary class. Most have been following the modified class all year and the points race is so close. This event was VERY important in the modified class since Dee K (rotordee) is number 1 in points but not by too much so it was an important event for him. To upset things, the Puerto Rican guys brought about six cars and ended up dominating the 8 car field since their rotaries ran so well. Some of the US guys did not qualify because of this.

Then in the first round of elimations Pica (white 1st gen) took out Paul Efantis (solara) and that started it, the crowd went freakin berzerk and everyone was on their feet! Then, another car from PR took out Justin Humphreys (lexus) and the crowd went absolutely insane again! The modified class ended up being a PR against PR final. The entire crowd stayed until the finals to see how the pro classes were doing. A lot or records were broken, I loved this event dude. Sorry you didnt like it.

Anthony

The "Show car" scene should just mercifully die. "Show cars" used to be about beauty, execution, and design, and now it's just a contest to see how much unecessary gaudy **** you can pile on a car. Totally worthless.
