Using a 3 bar map sensor on an NA
I want to purchase a used standalone for my NA but all the ones I come across are for turbo cars that use 2 or 3 bar map sensors. I want to know if this will reflect me on HP and also will it run as smooth as it should.

Do not use a 3 bar, a 2 bar maybe.

im looking for an LT8, if i can find a 1 bar ill definitely get it, but since im looking for used one, its a little harder to come by. I was also wondering if there are any changes that has to be made to the wire harness if i was to buy one that was used on a turbo car.
Nothing has to be changed. The plug is keyed to accept only one type of MAP sensor, so you may have some cutting to do.
Now that I think about it though, I MAY have an extra 1-bar MAP sensor. I will try to look for it this weekend.

OK, im kinda new to this standalone thing, but I thought that the bar sensors was built into the computer. if not, how do I change it?
Some computers have a built in MAP sensor, but you can use an external sensor. For example if you buy the link I sent you, you need to run the correct wires to it, and hook up the manifold pressure line.
The more bars, the more boost the sensor supports. Since the voltage it can use is only 0-5v, the more bars the sensor supports the more values it has to cram into that 0-5v range. Since there is only so many numbers you can put into the 0-5 range, it usually means that sensor isn't as sensitive.
So if you have a 3bar map on a n/a, you will have horrible resolution of your N/A range and not make use of any of the boosted range.

Megasquirts are almost all 2.5 bar systems and people run N/A engines on them just fine.
The key is, you can pick and choose what your map's points are at.
I think my peripheral port's map had a lower limit of 50kpa and an upper of 100kpa.
