Track Day Engine Reliability Mods

The plan for January is to swap a low mileage, known good motor into my HPDE car. Unlike last time I did this, due to lack of time and money, I want to get some reliability mods done to the engine before swapping it in. S4 motor, all stock, rtek computer. Current plans are as follow:

Clean/Test injectors
Replace Fuel Diffusers
All new o-rings on injector and diffuser bits
Replace Fuel Pulsation Dampner
Clean/Validate Aux Ports
Replace all gaskets on upper and lower intake manifold
Emissions removal (leave BAC in place)
OMP removal
OMP injector removal
Replace any remaining VAC lines
Remove thermal pellet
Swap in FD Rear Oil Pressure Regulator
Shim Front Stock oil pressure regulator
Oil Pan Baffle & Windage Tray

What else am I missing? Or should do? I'm not changing the oil pump to a turbo assembly based on PeeJay's experiences. The only thing I thought of while typing out this list was changing out the auxiliary ports to the scalloped design like the renesis uses.

If your going to be tracking it, why bother with the aux ports? You'll probably be over 4k 90% of the time, this would also make your exhaust choices alot better

I wouldn't worry about replacing the PD, just banjo bolt it (if allowed)

Better radiator, lots of good ducting for the radiator and the oil cooler

Good custom intake to actually pull cold air

I'd suggest keeping the OMP unless you were planning on running synthetic oil to help with engine temps?

On my home track there are some parts where you do drop RPM wise. But I could just wire them open. The scalloped design I'm talking about actually improves the airflow when open.

I'll be premixing anyways so the OMP will be gone. Don't want to worry about rebuilding it and the lines and insuring that it's actually working. Easier to just premix and move on with life. Being able to run synthetic is just an added bonus.

I know this is off topic but, What is your home track? I recently moved to dallas and I'm trying to figure out where my "home" track will be.

On topic,

I would make sure you have a good temp gauges on the oil and coolant system. These temps are 100% related to life of your engine, being able to accurately know will help you make the adjustments necessary to keep them in check.

Motorsport Ranch (MSR or MSRC) in Cresson is my home track. I run grid for Apex Driving Academy and they are based there. Living in the DFW metroplex you've got a plethora of tracks nearby. The two closet are MSR and Eagles Canyon. The two tracks are quite different. Multiple driving schools/HPDE groups run events out at MSR or if your a super heavy track rat a membership out there may be your best bet. Eagles Canyon runs their own HPDE events and memberships are available too. Regional tracks include Hallet in OK, Motorsport Ranch Houston (MSRH), Circuit of America (COTA) in Austin, Harris Hill Raceway (H2R) in Austin, Driveway Autosports in Austin, and NOLA motorsports in Louisiana.

On topic - Yeah I've got some fancy Apexi gauges for both of those I bought long ago for a project that are going in. Plan on taping the front cover for the water temp probe.

Port match the oil galleys from the iron to the stationary gear. Clean up/smooth the oil pump housing on the front cover. Do the external oil loop line modification/ solid engine dowels. Balance your rotating assembly, lighten if you can spend the extra cash. Use and RX8 eshaft and rotor bearings. Most of this stuff is pretty cheap the balancing and lightening would set you back about 500-600 depending on shipping I would guess. I did all these things to my car with no expertise, a Dremmel, and a little research on the ol' webs.
