Timing advance for NA 2nd gen

So like the title says. Im looking to learn more about advancing timing on an NA FC. I have heard theat 27-29* is where i wanna be at when at full advance. I have also found the timing marks on the pulley, and the CAS. However, what i do not know is how to properly adjust the CAS for leading and trailing, nor do i understand the pro's and con's of adjusting timing. I am looking for info on these things.
Thanks
