Hey does anyone know if you can put a fd trans on a rx8 i know that the shifter is set further back on the fd trans than it is on the 8's trans and i think the length is close to the same but not perfect any help would be great.

 

Why not get the RX8 5speed trans?

 

well i have a fd trans and there is no 5speed manual trans for rx8. The reason for this swap is i need a stonger trans for FI

 

The transmission will fit the engine. You may have to modify the PPF.

 

Sorry but you are mistaken..

Rx8 was offered in Japan with 5 speed.. I have actually imported about 10 of them for various people in the last few years...

Bolts right in....Shifter is in the correct place..easy as pie...

 

Is it possible for you to measure the distance from the front of the bellhousing (mating surface to engine) to the shifter for the 5 speed box ? any info on the 5 speed ratios?

this 5-speed that you mention, is it based on the old Turbo cases? if not, why would someone want to replace the 6-speed? just curious ....

 

My guess is the 5 speed gears are wider so it may hold more power.

 

The center section is same as FD3S not FC3S

The 6speed is super weak.. They Break all the time..

The 5 speed is actually a stronger trans

indeed the 6 speed is weaker. 9000k has my old fd tranny and they are about the same legnth but the shifter is in a slightly different position bolt pattern matches up i think the only the thing that is needed is maybe built up the rear end. after that if the driveshaft is long enough your in business if not the get one that does. that should do it. feel free to correct me if im forgetting anything

 

Is it the gears or the synchros that are weak? I was actually thinking of swapping the 6-spd in to my FD.
