Rotor Gear Mods
I've read lots on the mods that are usually made here on E-shafts, porting and the like, but no threads on what to use for securing the Rotor Gear. I have used the snap ring and set screws. Which method is preferred? I have had good luck with both. Set screws have been reliable to 11,500, and cheaper.
Any thoughts?

i would tend to think, theoretically, the circlip/snap ring method would be more reliable, but that's my opinion. however, i'd tend to think either method would afford you a tad more security. having said that, for all the engine failures i've witnessed over the years, creeping rotor gear failures are among the minority.

I thought it was mostly a problem with the 9 pin gears, the 12 pin gears ('86+) are supposed to see vastly lower loading. With the 9 pin gears, the loading curve basicallu goes straight up at 8500.
Part of why I started playing with FC engines.

Most , if not all of my work is related to the four port or PP engines. I've used the '88 light rotors with the higher compression , but hated the 2mm seals. So I use the FB stuff (84-85), almost exclusively. I usually cut .025 off the rotor gear face and set screw 4 pins. Just the fact that they went from 9 to 12 pins tells you something. Things really start happening above 9000.
Nothing like rowing the shifter at 9000.
