pineapple sp templates

hey guys im planning on doing my first rotary rebuild and i was wondering if i would need to do anything with my fuel system if i street port my engine. I have everything ready to go right now,i bought the pineapple racing large sp template and race exhaust template and the aux port sleves, the atkins rebuild kit should be coming sometime this week. I was reading on the forum that the motor can blow really fast if it runs lean so i just wanted to know if i should run t2 injectors or something. Anybody have good success with the pr templates?

rework your complete fuel system from your pump to your fpr.. if not you will be tearing apart that fresh motor right quick( also the hardlines dont need to be touched). and we need more info on the setup to tell you what you need to do to be safe

I'm Running Stock INjectors w/ a Rtek ECU (Base Map) and Walbro 255 Pump. I'm Also Large Street Ported Following the Pineapple Racing Large Street Port.

i'd at least upgrade the fuel pump. but from what i'm noticing i'm still running rich (could be the Rtek Map, but not sure) i'm averaging about 12mpg which is very low according to my other buddies who are getting 16 - 20 with their Rx7's

Hope this helps

I bought a complete s5 na motor that came out of a running car to build so when my motor goes ill have one ready to just drop in. as of right now my car is pretty much stock, i have a cat back exhaust and i did the " throttlebody mod" . I bought the atkins rebuild kit, aux sleves, and the pineapple racing large sp template and race exhaust template. My goals were to just have a nice dd. i dont know if this helps or not. my fuel system is completely stock.

what does base map mean? soory im a noob at this.lol so the r tek ecu is just plug and play?

Yes the Rtek Ecu is plug and play. i've heard it retains the factory Mazda Tune, but since its a Modded ECU i just call it a Base map. i consider a base map an Untuned ECU. (Internet Tunes count as Base maps)

My Car sounds pretty much the same build as yours lol. i've got the Pineapple LSP intake and SP Exhaust, Atkins Rebuild Kit, Aux Inserts. Full Exhaust and TB Mod.

My recommendation would be at minimum a Walbro 255, do you have a Wideband?

haha is your car pretty fast with your build? hows the reliability? not yet i was thinking of getting a wide band. so your running stock injectors with a 255 walbro? what does the r tek do that a stock ecu doesnt do? or do you have to tune the r tek to what you want it to do?

Cars alright. ran a 16.1.. Reliability, i'd say 100%
Yes, i'm running Stock 440cc injectors with my 255 Walbro.
to start with, the rtek acts as a stock ecu, allows to be plugged in, initial settings set up, and drove down the road. you can also adjust 6 port timing, and VDI TIming.
Tuning the Rtek will allow for better fuel economy and definatly better power. it allows for Electronic timing adjustments and Fuel Control based on Load %'s. i'm very happy with my Rtek, just gotta learn how to tune it and then i'm sure i'll be even happier

Edit: i don't have a wideband either, another reason i've been waiting to tune it lol

from my understanding the r tek is only plug and play up to version1.7 and after that you have to do some tuning. But the 1.7 doesnt adjust the fuel. im probably wrong i just looked at their website real quick but if i am correct the r tk isnt really adding more fuel?

No i'm Running 2.0. 1.5 - 1.9 are not available for N/A cars (least last time i checked)

the 2.0's are plug and play they run off the stock base map at first and you tune from there.

i was running 16.1's consistantly. but my MPH was they same as my buddy that was running 15.8's. my 60' was my killer as i'm not a drag racer and was doing full fledged burn outs on my street tires (guess your not supposed to do it? lol) i was spinning outta the hole really bad.

soon as i buy the cable to tune the Rtek with my Laptop (PDA's Broke ) i'm gonna start playing with the tune. (more so when i get a WB)

The stock injectors are good for way more power than you will be able to make. So are the fuel lines and everything else.

okay cool, i was mainly concerned about running lean because i read all over the forum that once a rotary runs lean the motor will be toast very soon.

I'd say get an Rtek, not for "fuel Problems" but because they tuning ability (timing) and the ability to make most use of your fuel (fuel adjustments). Its a very nice ability to be able to make adjustments.

and Running lean is mostly a Turbo Problem. Us N/A guys are kinda in the Superman phase of rotary engines because its harder to detonate a N/A motor unless your trying to

to 89RedsunGTUs, you need a adjustable fuel pressure regulator. the walbro 255 is too much pump for the stock regulator can handle. this will help with your milage and tuning.

sorry for butting in, thought it would help?
