Loctite instead of Devcon for PP irons?
Hey guys, I've searched this topic already several times and came up with some decent info, but I have seen any one use Loctite brand Liquid Steel epoxy filler to fill the irons in on a Peripheral Port engine.
Only reason I ask is that a local store carries this stuff in stock all the time.

Seems comparable to the Devcon product which nobody can seem to get for me locally.
Any thoughts?

It should be fine. I've used the stuff before and its pretty damn tough. They use it to patch 12" steam pipes in power plants that see huge PSI and extreme temps. The only thing I would be concerned about is how much it expands/contracts at different temps.
No, you don't want the iron filled Devcon, you want the aluminum filled Devcon. I made that mistake on my 2nd PP motor. It ran good for about 4 hours, then the Devcon started flaking and falling apart, and wiped out my side seals. I went to the aluminum filled Devcon, and my PP motor now has 20+ reliable racing hours on it.
You can mail order it from McMaster here http://www.mcmaster.com/#devcon-meta...poxies/=614jp6
I had good luck with McMaster#74575A74
Devcon Metal-Filled Epoxy #10710, Aluminum Liquid Epoxy, 1-lb Can, Aluminum
In stock at $51.74 Each
Make sure you keep the surface of the Devcon about .060" below the surface of the iron side housing.
