for a first time, it looks great to me. even if i had not punched through to the water jacket on my first attempt, yours still look way better. what grit did you finish with?

also, have you done the exhausts yet?

thanks, i was scared as hell that ide break into the jacket. i have constantly read over and over how little room there is on 6 port motors before breaking into the water jacket, so i went with the notion less is more. i also went with some porting theories saying that the port shape is what matters, and not to mess with the runners too much, just clean up the casting.
i finished with some 220 grit on a flap wheel to get it smooth, but not polished for better fuel atomization.

i havent done the exhausts yet. im still up in the air if i am gonna try to find some turbo housings, turbo exhaust inserts, or the long task of grinding out the diffusers, due to my severely limited budget, im leaning towards grinding them. either way im gonna send the housings to goopy performance for resurfacing

I've always wondered why people tend to port them so smooth. Perhaps they just tend to look smoother in pictures than they really are, but in the piston world, it's pretty well-known that polishing runners which carry an air-fuel mixture results in poorer mixing. Fuel sticks much better to smooth surfaces than rough ones.

On that note, I've even seen some dimple-style porting on certain heads that I'd like to try out on a rotary, just for kicks. Kinda like a golf ball.

How far is the opening edge from the groove in mm. please?

Just checking that the leading edge of the side seal is supported if the closing edge is not ramped.

Looks good, just pay attention to the closing edge being as straight as possible.
