Have any plans of posting up the details of the header you made? Or are you offering to make replicas?

Without a doubt. I just dyno'd the car with the shorter intake, and am very excited with the results. Once I do a few more tests, the header will be ready for sale and final dyno numbers posted.

will you sell your porting template as a kit with the header, or least provide some kind of port timmings with header purchase. Am i right that without your spec port timming, your designed header might not able get the best result, right?

Do you think that there is power to be gained from moving your air filter infront of the rad for cooler air?

I can't speak for his setup, but mine has the air filter stuck right on the TB elbow and when driving down the road, air inlet temps are within a degree of ambient.

I plan on extending it forward, but temp isn't one of them.

As peejay said its seeing ambient temps right now. Plus long intake = bad for top end torque curve. If I ever did do it, have to be a large 4-5" piping going to a ram air system. That way the intake will "see" a short intake system still.

Ok, so from what i understand, 0 degree split with the timing means the leading and trailing fire at the same time, correct?

correct.

it'll either be expressed as 24L btdc with no split, meaning 24L btdc and 24T btdc. OR 24L with a 2 degree split (for example) which is 24L btdc and 22T btdc.

some ecus like the haltech you input the leading timing, and the amount of trailing split. some like the PFC (or a distributor) you just set both seperately.

ok, so theoretically i can do the dlidfis system for all 4 plugs right? and just use the distributor to hold the igniters correct?

In my opinion, any ignition modification that does not involve an MSD box is wasting time.

That said, if you are not running the trailings through the distributor cap, you MUST be using two separate pickups. Firing both trailing at the same time is like running with 180 degrees of additional timing advance. (Long story short: You CAN get an N/A to detonate, although you probably won't kill the engine) So you will need to fiddle around with the distributor to reposition one of the pickup coils exactly 90 degrees away from the other one. Currently they are 170 degrees apart in stock form with no vacuum on the cans. (Remember distributor degrees are half of engine degrees!) It will be a lot of work, and the best way to do it will involve precisely marking the front pulley so you can set the rear rotor's timing.

I don't see a way of doing it that will allow wasted spark on the leading without an additional pickup somewhere.

Now, if you don't want to screw around with all that, but still want decent ignition...

I'm running one MSD box driving two coils, all plugs go through distributor, no ignition related problems. I did fry a distributor cap but it was a well used part when I put it on. Oh and I did set a coil on fire when a too-short coil wire came off and I drove 150 miles with the coil arcing to itself... hmm So I am now using a FC trailing coil pack, wired in parallel to that same single MSD box.

No misfires all the way up to 9500rpm under load.

^ Better yet is to run the leading with one msd box wired direct fire/wastespark and then run the trailing through the cap with another msd box. Move the trailing spark plug wires from the trailing positions on the cap to the leading. This way you have great spark on both leading and trailing and you can run a rev limiter. You need 3 coils. Two for the leading and one for the trailing. This is how I have my rx2 drag car wired and it runs perfect. I launch off the rev. limiter at 10,200 and shift at 10k without skipping a beat.

How come no vid of the car? We been wondering how this car performs and what kind Of
1/4 mile times it would be capable of. It's been a while, you should give us some kind of treat atlease a story.

The timing is always bad on getting a friend out to do a video. I really really want to do one, I will try to set something up soon!

Fortunately, it doesn't really snow in Columbus, just rains a lot and sometimes the rain is squidgy.
