NM SCCA Autocross: Santa Fe

Sunday, June 22, the Rio Grande Region SCCA is having event #7 at the Santa Fe Downs (discussion, autox event info).

Stephen and I have missed most of the events this year due to engine failure in my race car, but the engine is rebuilt, and ready for next weekend. Santa Fe is a great venue. The lot is a little old, but it's big, and the course should be fast. The best part is how close it is. The Downs is only 45 minutes away making this the closest points event this year. Last year we had 59 drivers and six runs each. I would expect the same this year. Come join the racing action!

Pre-registration is open and the course map is posted (pre-registration,course map).

Looks fun and challenging. If anyone is interested in coming, send me a pm, or if you know me, give me a call. I'd be happy to explain anything or give directions.

Yeah, a car with crappy brakes really isn't very fun to drive.

I might not make it either. Mazdaspeed hasn't shipped my TII injectors yet. Know where to find one S5 NA injector for temporary use? This sucks...I haven't raced in three months.

Update: Mazdaspeed says there are no TII injectors in stock on the North American continent...they have to be shipped from Japan. Guess everyone uses these. They do, however, have NA injectors. I overnighted one and it should be here tomorrow.

Thanks! But I needed more than luck on Sunday. I was more than a little rusty, and spun more than once. We had one on video, but it seems to be missing. Of course it didn't help that my suspension is setup for nice smooth courses, and that course was as close to a dirt lot as you can get. Still, I drove like ***. I took dead last, and Stephen took third. I had one run worth second place...plus four cones. It was fun though. You should consider coming out to an event.

There's going to be another event at the Downs in August. I'll post info when the date gets closer. Just about all of the all-wheel-drive vehicles did great, so your WRX should be fun to drive on that course. Congrats on your marriage.
