!!!!!!new Mexico Rotary Club !!!!!!!!
Hey Guys,
I have been watching this site for a while now and I have noticed that there has been a lot of talk of a Rotary club in NM but no one to step up. WELL.... I am stepping to the challenge !!!! I am in the progress of setting up a meet in the ALB area in the near future ( details to come very soon !!!!) I am going to organize a meet and I am Open to ideas for club names, and any Ideas to get this thing off the ground.
A little bit about me.......
I am 22 years old. I am currently A general manager for Drivetime in Alb, NM and also in the US ARMY. I currently own a 1988 GTU w/ an S5 swap(lights and Wing), 13bRE swap street ported with a micro tech and front mount, and a whole bunch more little junk done to it. I also own a 1985 GSLSE with a true 12a Turbo from japan street ported and new turbo fresh out of paint. I am motivated and excited to get this club going and provide more specific Focus on those of us who live in NM. I have found a shop sponsor, a hook up on paint, and a hook up on stereo equipment.
If you are interested, PM me all your contact info so I can get a club directory going. PS we have Steve Kan coming to ALB 1st weekend in july to do some tuning so if you need it let me know and I can get you prices and requirements (he tunes more than rotary too so tell EVERYONE !!!)
Thanks Again and I'm looking foward to meeting everyone soon!!

Spotted a Gen 3 VR last Sunday while on vacation in Albuquerque around 10:45 am in the NE Heights. We were heading to church for my niece's first communion. My wife always laughs 'cause I can spot an FD a mile away. She claims I give them more attention than I give her
Oh well, good luck with getting the club rolling. I started our local club here in Phoenix back in 2000 and we're now more than 40 strong with monthly events. Keep us posted on your progress. Does Albuquerque have emissions laws? Just curious!

Michaelangelofb....have you talked with Shat83 yet? I think he would be down to help you with the club as he expressed interest. I think one of you needs to focus on 1st , 2nd gens, other rotarys and the other does 3rd gens and RX-8's.

Everyone,
Just some ideas on what we did here in AZ. I ran an ad in the Sunday paper (this was 2000, so pre-Forum days) and we had about 15 cars show up. I printed up business cards with our (proposed) club name on them and my email address and handed them out to everyone who came to the first meet. About 2 dozen cards were handed out to each person with instructions to place a card under the windshield wiper of any rotary-powered vehicle that they came accross while driving around town. That's basically how we got started.
This forum is great since you can start threads specific to your individual community. I didn't have that in the early days.
Finally, my advice on your club would be to open it to ALL rotary powered vehicles, since the rotary engine is what makes our vehicles unique. Don't get fragmented by generations, or RX-7 versus RX-8. It's all rotary, so enjoy and learn from each other. Some will want to focus strictly on track racing or AutoX, while others will be into "show and shine". Again... respect each others different intersts, share knowledge (and parts ), but most importantly... have FUN!
Just my .02. Heck, maybe you could start a caravan for Sevenstock 10 and meet up with us in Phoenix on our way out to Irvine!!
Good Luck!!

I made a thread on the rx8 site and there's a few people on there who are interested. Does anybody have ideas for a name of the club or when the first meet might be? Lizzi and I were thinking sometime in June.

Here is a pic of the sticker that "stinger" from the rx8 site made and maybe we can get it made into a sticker to put on the car. Also the second pic is what the business card is going to look like. Someone suggested that we can meet up at a the Sonic on San Mateo. does anybody else have any ideas or this is a goodd spot to meet?

Once you guys figure out the name of the club....I can buy the domain name and point it at your guys section on MileHighRotaryClub.com
Our first meet we only had 4 cars....now we are averaging 35 cars a meet....who knows where it it can go. Then you can order some business cards to put on local cars and dealerships to get more people to know about the club.
