Mile High Rotary Meet (June 2005)

As most of the Colorado guys know, we are have a meet this June sometime. We are looking at doing it on Sunday June 26th 2005. I am trying to make sure it does not conflict with too many peoples schedule. I stayed away from the drift showoff date, NHRA import drags, ect. Can anyone think of a reason why this would be a bad date? It will definately be held on a Sunday to accomidate the people with Sat / Sun off and Sun / Mon off. Plus we can meet up with everyone else later that night.

I also need to see if anyone has hook up's or ideas on where to hold it rather than Hamburger Stand. Once we get the rest of the rotarys together we will outgrow this parking lot. I would like to have it at a place with food if possible, or we can get a couple of grills and barbacue. I will check to see how much Bandimere would charge us to rent out the track, but Im pretty sure its like $2500 or more. I need other ideas on how we can improve the meet. Any sponsers? Maybe a place like Mazda-Honda shop, Mazdas only, Rotary Specialist, ect.

I just got off the phone with Sean (Boostin13B) and he had a great idea...why not have a barbacue at Bandimere on a test and tune day...and get some video of drag racing RX-7's (Marc...Im racing you first). It would cost everyone $30 to race all day or $15 to watch for you (all show no go guys)...j/k

I'm totally down with a test and tune at Banidimere and a Barbacue but I think only week days for the test and tune? but don't quote me on that. If it has to be a weekend I don't know if we can go to Bandimere. I will defintley want to run QTR mile. WHO'S FIRST!!!!!!!

Well, I think your right...maybe I can find out what Bandimere is doing on the Sundays that nothing is scheduled. I am wondering if we have some people who wouldn't want to pay to get in? Maybe just a good old fashion barbacue and then the following Wednesday those who want to race and go.

Any other idea's out there? We can also get everyone together for Stevensons meet that Henry was talking about. I will post up more information as soon as I find out.

Problem is, not all of us are into drag. I'd much rather have a meet at second creek.

But the 26th should work for me... I'll be on summer break so no reason why not.

I'm in. I'll have another meeting with my GM this week to hammer the details for the Tuner Meet at Stevinson Chevrolet. From the response I'm getting from different people and vendors this looks to be huge. I'll keep you updated.

Peace

There are a bunch of us that are into track as well. But the main problem is, that you just can't go there and run like on a test and tune. We just can't show up and have a meet there. I've looked into renting it before and it's juset a hassle. The owner is kind of a *****, and usually won't work with you with anything. We would have to find an open track day, which I heard a rumor that they aren't having anymore, but that's just a rumor, I don't know if it's still closing down forsure.

They have club meets all the time there.. I've gone with my brother to several CODSM meets. We could easily just meet on an open track day.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'test and tune' but we could probably just rent a dyno for a day as a group and tune that way.

I'm up for some kind of barbeque, if nothing else we can find a park with a large parking lot. We wouldn't even have to pay.

I heard that they were shutting down fairly soon and that there aren't going to be many if any open track days.

Test and Tune is like an open track day for Bandimere, where anyone can drive in and run.

I like the idea of meeting up at a shop with a dyno! That way it will be free for those who don't want to dyno. Also, a park such as Clements would be good to barbacue at and people could bring thier wifes, girlfriends, kids ect. Theres even a vollyball court there. Keep the ideas rolling....Mike at Tropical Smothie would love to have us there too.

I'm always down for a BBQ. The park Idea is nice for a nice day, so we could all chill, and like Mike said, the ladies might like it more than a car meet for those of you who have woman that don't like cars as much as some.

Not applicable. Nevertheless, I'm always game for a BBQ.

So, I'm thinking the barbacue thing it is. Now, the location. We need a good size parking lot that is close to the barbacue pit (so we can keep an eye on our car). I was thinking Clements park (is that the park next to Columbine?). Cartoys had its summer picnic there and it was coo, but the parking lot wasnt next to were everyone was. Any suggestions? Should everyone be assigned to bring something? Who can cook? Any other activities?

The June meeting needs to be a big meeting, and even though this section is still rather small I'm going to make this a sticky so everyone knows that this is important!

Start looking around when you drive home from work looking for places that'll make a good meeting.

I'm in... I should be able to make it that day, and a BBQ sounds good. Probably gonna have the meet all hammered out before I get back to the states, and I don't remember any good meeting places in the Denver area.

I tried to email the guy running the Rotary meet June 4th and 5th, but have not heard anything yet. Does anyone know if this will still be a two day event? Otherwise, we will just do something similar to our March meet. Who is on here that did not make our March meet? I need you to email me at MichaelB145@aol.com.

I was planning on it, but when I heard they were already having a 2 day rotary meet, I was going to just go with it. However, if the 2 day thing doesn't go down, we will just do something similar to the March meet.

It's getting pretty close to that date, so we have to start making some plans one way or another if were going to have a decent thing like last time. Anybody ever think about having it at like chatfield or Cherry creek or something where they have BBQ's and lots of parking?

If the whole Rotary meet does not happen on the 4th, then I'm thinking either Hamburger Stand again, or Clements Park (North East Parking lot) by Wads and Bowles. If we have it at Clements park...then we need to have a BBQ. What does everyone think?
