That said, I continue to be impressed the more I learn the other capabilities. Latest one was the ability to map fuel pump pulse-width by fuel pressure. Super helpful to keep a huge pump's heat generation to a minimum. Just one of the so many cool discoveries. So in toto, I'm still very please with the choice. Just be aware of the change.

This is somewhat in-built to their business model with Dev units. Pushes their AD network to build and support keeping customers at arms length from Motec Proper but still creating functionality.

It's not some bespoke CAN gearbox control thing for a low volume people mover that only 3 people would use. Pretty disappointing to drop functionality they had ~20 years ago.

Ford does something like that, and it might make sense if you want to run a big fuel pump in a street car. the Fords have a fuel pressure sensor and fuel pump controller, so instead of Mazda's 2 speed setup, i think its in a closed loop.

Preaching to the choir. I use them regularly but I'm less than impressed with the way Motec does business/develops.

Sure 'nuf, I check with Shane and MAP/EMP is a Dev option with his "Pike's Peak" package. That said and after some caveat emptor reflection, I only have a smidgeon of buyer's remorse.

Mazda built fuel pump management into the FD from the start with the low to high voltage haha. It's bougie.
