who has a pilot bearing removal tool?

if anybody has one that would be amazing. its for an FC.

I already went to autozone and got the ghetto one that they have. then broke it because it sucks. and the damn pilot bearing is still in there!

if anybody could help me out with a tool, or even some advice that would be great. my cell is 847-287-1576

proper sized socket (prefferbly deepwell), heavy grease, and rubber hammer.

place grease into the area were the pilot bearing is, place socket into the grease, pack socket with grease, leave some space between the socket and the back of the well, whack with soft or hard hammer (depending on your aim). Hydro dynamics will force the bearing out, clean up well, install new one..

*may not work in all situations*

ya, if I broke the autozone pilot bearing removal tool by threading a pipe into the end of it and then putting a breaker bar through the end, thus making a 'T' and then hitting that with a hammer, and instead of removing the pilot bearing it broke the tool after a few tries, somehow I don't think grease is going to get the little bastard out of there.

I'll give it a shot, I'll let you know if it works.

I have a feeling this is going to be very messy no matter what happens tho :P

wow, that had an even worse outcome than I could ever have possibly imagined...

the socket fit, but the adapter to fit the extender on it was in fact just slightly larger than the socket, so what ended up happening was the adapter has lodged itself into the pilot bearing. and no matter how much i swear at it it wont come out.

looks like that adapter is going to meet an early death at the hands of my drill. oh joy...

im sorry i helped you pickle it up more, .. if your socket will not reach the bottom of the well, and still be outside you will need a deepwell socket.

Use your new pilot bearing as a reference for clearance, and a pencil to check the depth of the well.

what kind of adapter? like an extension? or 3/8 to 1/2 drive? im sorry its messed up, and nothing quite like the joy of drilling hardened steel
