Who has my car...? *stolen*

I get home to find my car missing! Hmmm, maybe it got tired of getting worked on, and decided to leave.

If anybody finds it, please let me know.

Will be sure to let you know if it makes its way to the KC area. This kind of thing is unforgivable. Good luck

That sucks man! Should be pretty easy to spot if it is around Joplin. I'd call up Rotary Doctor and let Kyle know it's been stolen just in case anyone goes around looking for new lock sets from him or something. People are so low around here. Someone shot my freaking passenger window and door on my 10AE with a pellet gun and dented it and broke the window. I had some tools and motorcycle riding boots stolen out of on of my rx7's in my driveway before when I lived on empire too.

I'm glad I moved away from Joplin. Did your insurance cover this?

The car didn't have insurance as I was still trying to get it legalized *interior dash lights didn't work......learned that the hard way! Along with a few other things* but yeah....I also just got my SAFC-II hooked up in that thing...and that was a bitch!

It looked like it was in the exact same shape as it was when they stole it. I really hope I can get it back, but if I do, there is no way they will sign the title over to me finally. I might just have to sell it titleless, and sell it for cheap. This is a whole lot of ****, and I think I got stuck in the middle of some serious ****.

So I am guessing here but is the person that stole it the person that you bought it from or something? How come you don't have the title?

OK, here is the story, it's fucked up from Day 1.

We'll call the first owner O1, and the guy who I got the car from O2...

O2 comes to me and trades me this RX-7. I'm a trusting guy when he says he can't get the title right now, has to file for lost. That's fine. I wait 10ish days, I get the title. He says the guy who I need to get it signed by is out of town. *Note! O1 is on the title as owner, while O2 is the "Mail to". Meaning O2 is the owner of the title promptly, if I'm not mistaken.

now, I haven't heard from O2 in MANY days, so I'm trying to call him...cell not available, and nobody answers his house phone. Anyway, I don't have the title in my name, but I DO have the title with all the info on it.

I'm starting to wonder if I got played from the beginning by getting this car tossed on my lap so he could evade the trouble..but now I'm tied up in it, and once I get this car, someone on this forum might be the lucky new owner of it.

If the car was last registered in Missouri under O1, just get a lost title form and a notary and have O1 sign the forms. I've had to personnaly drive a onwer to a notary to have this same thing done. Have the title mailed to your address. And for $5 more you can get an expididate title. You can also use a title company for around $40. A title company has to do the same paperwork. They just do the leg work for you.

Hmm, I'll have to check into this if I get the car back.

The way my father *ha, yeah, still going to my father for help at 23. Free advice/help!* put it to me, is if O2 was able to get the title mailed to him, the title is technically his, and that's that. Does that sound right?

If 01 has not been paid and did not release title to 02 its still 01's car!
You will just have to get the facts and go from there. If 02 stole the car by fraud and didnt pay you recieved stolen property and have no legal right to it!

Good luck!

Uh, I'm trying not to divulge any information like that, just in case the person in question is that person.

It would suck if I lose this car 100% though, as I traded my black 88 TII for the Yellow 84 GSL-SE, then traded back for this.

I'm going to come back to this...

How could O2 have gotten the title shipped to him if O1 didn't release it to O2? I figure it's not that easy to obtain somebody's title...

In Missouri at one time, the seller had to have a title notorized. This is no longer a requirement (has been this way for some time now). If someone has a title, all they really need to do is sign it with the name on the front of the title. No notory required. You can go to the corthouse and if you talk to them really nice they can do a title search and see who the last person that titled the vehicle. You will need the VIN. A title company can also do this. They can also get you a new title. I think the issue here is that even with a valid title, the car is missing. If you had a bill of sale to prove possesion that might help. My rule when purchasing a car is that I have to have a clean title that is free and clear of all leans. I've seen to many people get scammed by someone selling a car without a title. Back in 1982 I bought a really nice 1968 GTO without a title. Wish I had that car today.

OK, well, I might have to PM with you to see if I could get some suggestions from you on this depending on if the cops even get the car or not...

I have a Bill of Sale from O2 saying he is giving me the car...but if O2 stole the car, as previously suggested, then there isn't going to be much of a chance of that being valid either. It just sucks that I am probably at a huge loss right now.... BAH HUMBUG.
