IL Title Issues

So I bought a car with a salvage title in Ohio and now realize its being more of a headache than I thought. Anybody have the means to getting the title switched to rebuilt? The car runs and drives fine, has some body damage, but everything works. really only looking to be able to get it plated so i can drive it on the street and to some track events, but I can't get the title switched over to my name, which means no plates.

Thanks

You may need to get it inspected to pass, again.

I'd talk with your local DMV. I know what to do in my home state, but every state has it's own quirks with salvage titles.

they said somebody like a body shop has to apply for a rebuilt title, that i can't. however, i don't have the money to spend on getting it returned to 100% factory new, and didn't know if they had to actually get it inspected, or if they just had to apply for it.

Found this for you:

Doesn't sound anywhere near as easy as it is in Missouri.

ID you loose your title

Just apply for a lost title and have a cop check it out and bam a brand spanky new clean title. I know it works in michigan. I had one with a salvage title and apply for a lost title. The other car the dumbass didn't transfer his title so I did the same and bam a new title. just don't tell the cop your have a title just u say u bought it off a guy if asked and showed him the p.o.s. report saying that you bought it.

Yeah that will work becouse they cann't check the title history or anything. Better off just going through the motions and getting it taken care of it. At least you will know better next time.
