Sept 4 @ Grattan, MI - Roadcourse HPDE
All:
I've been going to these events for 7+ years, and they are always well put together.
The economy has killed it this year, and the previous 2 events were cancelled due to low turnout. I'm looking forward to (hopefully) having both my turbo Miata and my V8 Rx7 on hand (and if I am really lucky they both make it home!!), and I will be instructing as well.
This is a HPDE, not a race.. street cars having fun and not bashing into each other.. run what you brung, and drive it in a way that lets you drive it home. Unsife drivers are sent packing, and the instructors are there to help educate new drivers to BE safe drivers on track. They work very hard to have a fun and safe group out there, and that's reinforced all day.
Typical turn out is anything from SRT4, GTI, Evo, STi, Miata, S200, 911, LS1 FC, C4 to C6, Z06, S4/S6, 5.0, Cobra... you get the idea. 95% street cars driven in, not a heavy racer event so you'll be on track with likeminded and like-equipped cars. All good poeple, not snubbish or elitist. Car guys having fun with cars.
The short version:
$180 for the day (9-5, more track than I can stand honestly)
3 run groups
free instructors
catered lunch (subs and pizza usually)
corner workers
ambulance on site
max 45 cars, 15 per group
Helmets required
Passengers allowed
Parade laps at lunch
No charge to just hang out and watch.
If you are interested, contact Eric here: <eric AT experienceperformance DOT net> and tell him Wallyman sent you.
NOTE: all payments must be in by Aug 18 in order to get an accurate head count.. so if you are going to go, make sure you pay up soon!! I want to get on track out there this year, and this one of the last chances for it.
Hope to see some of you out there, even if it's just to watch... I'll be in the yellow 92 turbo'd Miata or the Black T2 FC with the LT1 V8... or wrenching on one/both of them.
Wallyman
p.s. if you have trouble reaching Eric, PM me and I'll help make the connection.

Man, sounds like a great time but no way I can gather the cash in time. Too many races on the schedule for August already. But Grattan is a hell of a track.
