IL RZ wheel show and tell/ask for midwest people

Hey guys, just joined, I actually own an S2K and restore old Datsun Z cars, missed my opportunity to own an FD twice, one due to it selling to fast, the other due to I just didn't like the guy. Anyways, I wont be here long doing anything to ruin your forum, but I happened across some wheels a while back by accident. They are BBS and I originally thought they were just an old model style. Well after months of research, pictures finally found which was the hardest part, and comparing specs, I now know what I have. these are type RZ wheels of the efini FD, not the 2000 model, but the early 90's model. Still a very nice wheel and the specs are perfect for my S2000. But now that I have learned what they are, I figured I'd join here and see if these are a sought after wheel by FD owners and hold nostalgia, if so, I'd rather sell them than bastardize any meaning by putting them on a Honda. So I'm just looking for some input on if people would truly want these (im in Chicago burbs) and what sort of value they would hold.

pics:
how they looked when I picked them up

and after cleaning the hell out of them (yes a bit to much I will powdercoat the centers to the original finish which appears to be a sort of gunmetal but a bit lighter with more metal flake)

still have the BBS center caps in perfect condition and valve stems

thanks guys, hope I don't come off as an intrusion, I moderate a small Z forum and am very active in several other forums so I know how it goes.

p.s. I typed this fast since i am getting late for something so excuse the occasional typo or bad grammar.

Yes, they appear to be the series 6 RZ BBS wheels, iirc the series 7 RZ also had the same wheels.

Someone will love to have these, try posting them up in the midwest FS forum, or the 3rd gen FS forum.

Thanks for helping confirm what I thought because i really couldnt find any pics of the wheel. Anyone here have a good pic to help me with refinishing purposes, someone I know owes me some powdercoating services and I'd want to sell them looking more like how they should. Plus any guestimates at worth so I can have a proper asking price because I only know what an aftermarket second hand bbs wheel should go for, not a rare (not sure how rare) factory bbs wheel should be asked at. Thanks for the help and any help to come.

You may have to confirm the off-set but if you have the center caps I MIGHT be interested...so I'll let someone else talk about price.

BTW, I'm a member of the local Z Club. If you were in Omaha in 2010 for the Midwest Z Fest we may have met. Did you make Branson last year by chance?

Alright checked on them, and ill let the pics do the talking. They look good but want them more original looking for the sale but it doesnt necessarily have to be if not wanted.

And this is the color on the inside barrel, anyone know if tgis was the original face color?

very nice. I bet they could bring over $1000 if they are refinished very well.

thanks. soon you'll have the opportunity to own them. I mean anyone is allowed to shoot an offer whenever, (note this isn't a for sale thread I'm just stating general facts) but I am working on refinishing them. Anyone have pictures of these wheels from the factory? And yes I'm going to respond every chance I get to build a post count in preparation for being able to post in the classifieds, what is it like 20 posts? or do you have to be a paying member?

We'll if the price is right, I'll buy it .

I believe the color of these wheels is the diamond black similar to the BBS RGR Wheels.

thanks, i think i saw a picture that resembles the color you just described. just wasn't sure if that was added or stock since how I got them made them seem to have NEVER been that dark of a color haha.

this is the best I could do, so any debates as to whether this is the proper color or not? seems like it would be but I don't have the extensive RX7 specific knowledge as you guys would. haha. plus this doesn't show good definition as to the color, just a better idea.

edit:

oh and here is a link of someone with the same wheels over in the UK. notice the color, similar to mine except his seem even lighter in color (and major curb rash WOW!!!)

Thumbs up

17x8 front and 17x8.5 rear with +50 offset all around.

My advice would be to refinish the wheel and try to match the original color. I have seen them sell for around $1300-1500 in mint condition before. I am sure you can get more than $1000 if you refinish the wheels. I'd buy these wheels, but I am saving up for some Volk wheels.

psh, BBS > volk IMHO. and yeah buddy I'm sorry about that, they weigh 18lbs a piece front 19lbs a piece rear. or about 8.1/8.6kg

Powdercoating fell through for the "free" deal, sooo the way I look at it, someone can buy them for a grand, take to wheels america, spend 80bucks a wheel to have then refinished to new, and make out, rather than me put 320 into them and hope to get 1500. But if that doesn't happen, then I will just do it myself and post them on the big classifieds section. so locals, grab em up. And like a said i'd entertain trades for other wheels. Just obviously needs to meet my expectations.
