OMG!!! New Chicago Specific Forum

Hey yalls,

Figured I would let you all know about this. Evolv Chicago finally has a forum up and will be primarily used to set up meets and greets, events, and get togethers in the Chicago land area.

Currently its dominated by 8 owners and we need all of the support from 7 owners we can get!! And don't worry, the 8 owners actually know their lineage so they won't treat you like you don't own a rotary. (Or for those V8 swaps a RX car)

The website is www.evolvchicago.org and you will need to sign up to see the meet specific stuff.

FYI, there is some sort of meet up every month, if not twice a month or more...so don't think that this is some organization that says they will meet up and then fail at life.

Look forward to seeing you all on the site and at some meets.

Its old, gotten slower by the day, and its pretty much dead. Maybe 1-4 posts per week. Its a small group guys. Evolv Chicago is more about RX cars rather then 7 or 8's in specific. Evolv-Chicago also has more active posters atm then chicago rotary and will probably continue to have more posters since the group is active.

We're in the process of moving hosts as the current host sucks. It's dead as you guys stopped posting for who knows what reason.

The name of the club if you have forgotten is ROTARY Car Club of Chicago. The key being rotary in case you missed it. RX cars ARE 7s and 8s as well as everything else, hence the rotary part, so I dunno what that's all about. Besides, we had quite a few "active" posters as well when we were new too.

At any rate, Rc3 is still alive and kicking and we'll be launching a brand new site and forum very soon. It will be geared toward true enthusiasts as well as being involved in regional and national events including taking an active role with the SEMA Action Network. I don't want to take away from you guys at all. Just hanging around is ok at times too.

Sorry to thread jack, but don't knock the site because of someone else's antics.

farberio: Thanks for getting the word out over here about the new site!

farberio's response to this was incorrect. If you are referring to the old as the forum as the one at chicagorotary.com, then the answer is nothing.
If you are referring to the posts we had for Evolv-Chicago on RX8Club then the answer is that we wanted the club to be more welcoming to rotary car owners and enthusiasts that weren't just interested in 8's. Our club (as farberio said) is for rotary enthusiasts, not just owners of specific cars. We also wanted the club to expand more than just the two posts we had on 8club.

Evolv-Chicago and Rotary Car Club of Chicago are two separate clubs and therefore have two separate websites now. We created a site last year when Evolv was reorganized and we grew throughout 2008, but many of the new members were 8 owners due to the forums still being on 8club. The new forum, while it has only been up for less than a month, has already shown a turn around in the number of 7 owners joining.

The rest of your post doesn't really matter in this thread, so I am not going to discuss it. As you said, you've jacked the thread, so I'm going to try to get it back on topic.

The part that is bold seems to show a lack of understanding for the type of events and activities we do and it would seem that, in your eyes, hanging out isn't always what people are looking for. Since others on this site may share that sentiment, let me inform you and the other members here of the types of meets and events we have. This will clear up any misconceptions that you or others may have and hopefully draw more interest in checking us out.

We have meets roughly twice a month. The 2009 schedule is fully loaded with regular meets that should spark some interest in most people. Our standard meets at which we do indeed "hang out" and talk about rotaries or whatever else may come up, are of course in the schedule. Beyond that though, we also have cruises throughout the year, some of our members participate in track days that are offered through various other clubs and organizations, and then we get into our major events!

BBQ's, Whirlyball, things that have drawn out large numbers in the past are all back on the 2009 schedule along with a few new things! Part of the schedule is posted now and the rest will be up soon so that people can start planning.

We have members that don't like our regular meets but enjoy cruises. Others that only like track days. Whatever you like, come on out! We don't say you have to come to everything!

Some of our members will be attending regional and national events this year. That is great! With regards to planning and helping with those, right now we are still smaller and continuing to grow and we feel it is better to focus on our own local stuff before we start planning major events in other states.

If any of these things sound interesting, then click here for more info!

I hope that clears up some confusion as to what we are about.

Railgun, good luck with the new site and forum. Right now I think most of our members are happy with the way things are shaping up at Evolv-Chicago, so I wouldn't be too worried about taking away from us.

...Whirlyball...

No, I'd say that I have quite a good understanding.
