Just find a friend that's got a place in a county with no emissions testing and register there. Done.

dude, settle down... i'm not saying you CAN'T do it, just why it's illegal. Obviously the way 75% of us have our cars exempt or temporarilly passing emissions is illegal.

The way i read the law, it does not make a distiniton between the two, only in the way you prove that the car is for race/ show. it says that --"sporting activities" are those which are business, education, charity entertainment of the public.-- thats it. you can drive the car to and from those events. "intended for street use" is a vauge term. Show pics that theres a cage, race seats, no radio or a/c, and ur car is no longer intended for street use, that doesnt mean it cant drive on the street. and on the document u turn in-- I realize that above mention vehicle shall only be driven to and from sporting events-- Thats just how i read it...

A long time ago, I tried to get the exemption for my SCCA ITS legal 1st gen and was turned down. Also the EPA revoked my drivers licence untill my plates, for that car, had expired.

If this race car/show car exemption does not allow you to drive on the street then THE EXEMPTION IS POINTLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who puts plates on a racecar that they don't drive on the street???????????????

Think about it.... all you have to do is call Springfield and they will explain it to you, or you can see here and bitch and moan about it.

I went the show car exemption route...the only problem w/ that is you have to submit a copy of your insurance showing that the car is insured as a antique/show car.

I heard of getting a p.o box in a town that has no emissions and registering the vehicle to that addy. Anyone knows if that works? I gotta do something, cause I know my car will not pass for ****.

I seriously doubt you could register (or insure) a car with nothing but a P.O. box. But, as someone said above, if you know someone who actually lives there then you're set.
