I believe that my main bearing in my manual trans is about to give out. It makes a nice whine in gear while driving, and there is bearing noise when my foot is off the clutch at a stop.

Could anyone recommend a shop in this area? I'm trying to figure out how much this will cost me, and if there is anyone who specializes in rx7 transmissions.

 

You can usually find a good used trans in the parts for sale here for about $250.00 + shipping.
I'd go that route.

 

I did some searching and most people said the same thing. However, my car only has 87k miles on it, but it is 22 years old. These transmissions are 21+ years old now and I would think that most are probably getting to the point of needing a rebuild. I guess I can give it a shot. It would really suck going through the work of a trans. install only to find out that your "new" used trans needs to be rebuilt also.

Buy a low mile Jspec TII trans

I have them.. $250.00 plus shipping

Will cost more than double that to overhaul
