Looking for a bit of guidance
Hello rotorheads,
I recently got laid off from my job, I have a bit of free time until I start a new job. I have always had a deep interest in automotive body/paint work. I googled trade schools and looked on CL but had no luck. Does anyone here know of any route I could take to learn this trade? Or is there anyone in Chicago that would be willing to teach me how to perform auto/body work? I can pay you for your time. I hope someone out there can help me. My email is ramos_rotary@sprint.blackberry.net Thanks so much

I live on monticello, near diversey and central park.
I drive a gold turbo FC. Actually, I'm taking her down to banzai racing on friday to have this fuel cutting issue sorted out and my car should finally be 100%.

I drive a flat black 79 SA. I don't really take it out though I have had it broken into numerous times. I also drive a canary yellow 79 but I hardly ever take it outside its more of a Sunday car. I also have a gold 82 but it isn't roadworthy yet. I plan on condensing my cars since I just lost my job, I'm just gonna keep my black SA.
I live on Diversey and Central Park too on top of Little Clown Pizza I drive a flat black SA. Are you guys gonna be attending the meet at Jimmys this Sunday?
I have seen your car does it have black rims? There's actually a decent amount of rotaries in the neighborhood. I've spotted a bunch of FB's but they were highschool kids and they were riced out. There's a guy in the area with a RHD 78 RX7 and a few rotary toyota's I used to work out of my garage and worked on a few of them.

Perhaps what you could do is find a reputable body shop and look into working there to learn the trade. Of course, that would be at a minimal wage but if it gets your foot in the door...
what is this meet at Jimmy's you guys are talking about?
Being out in Texas I would say you would find a fb in better shape down there. Theres quite a few rotary Toyotas out there. Check out the other guys nopistons they have a few on there site.
You'll need to go to school. With cars costing several tens of thousands, most modern shops worth anything (and worth working for) also require a credential/certification from a recognized training/tech program. I think there are others, but I-CAR is one example. These shops will also typically pay more.

Edit: Just noticed the date on the original post. But good luck regardless.
