So you have to know someone who lives in a PO box with xxxx amount of people? Or can I just register it to any #? I would love to go Haltech, BNR Stage 4 turbo or something bigger, no cat, no emmissions, etc but am prohibited by emmissions. Say I go Stand Alone, high flow cat, keep emmissions, big turbo blah blah blah, could I pass?

Ok, pay monthly fees? So I open a Post Office box say in St. Charles (pretending its under the xxxx amount of people), pay monthly fees, and register the car to that PO box and thats it? So if I do this, can I get in trouble running big turbo, no cat etc since I wont have to emmissions test anymore?

Thats cool Lupe, but this is my Daily Driver. Not a track/show car, or dedicated race car. So I need to be able to LEGAL drive the car, but legally not have to goto emmissions. So all I gotta do is get a PO box somewhere emmissions exempt and register the car under the PO box addy?

I can legally drive my car, the exemption doesn't limit anything........... You'll need pics of aftermarket engine stuff though.

But isn't there a limit as to how many miles you can drive?

No limit on miles or anything......... You can pick up a exemption form at any testing station.

I have to deal with this **** in Missouri next month. I hope it goes smoothly.

An exemption form costs 400 dollars in parts here.

I tried to use the exemption on my 85 gsl-se when I was running in SCCA ITS. The exemption was denied.

Even with just a downpipe and intake and stock otherwise, my car BARELY passes the dyno test. It does have an old cat in there right now though...

I'm curious about this exemption Lupe is refering to as well. It can be denied? What do you have to do to get it approved? What exactly is it for(race cars, show cars, any car...)?

Ok, so I hit the illinois emissions web site

http://www.sos.state.il.us/departmen...emissions.html

Check out the exempt section at the bottom, all I can find that might apply is this:

"vehicles operated exclusively in organized amateur or professional sporting activities as defined in the Environmental Protection Act (415 ILCS 5/1 et seq.). "

Is THAT the clause you are using to get the exemption? That word "exclusively", technically (not practically...) would driving this every day to and from work not kinda kill that "exclusive" part?

Gonna go try and find "Environmental Protection Act (415 ILCS 5/1 et seq.)" now...

Ok, just for the sake of completeness, here is a link to the illinois environmental protection act(sorry the link is so ugly):
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs...tection+Act%2E

Here is the pertinent section of it(definition of "organized amateur or profesional sporting activity"):
" (415 ILCS 5/3.310) (was 415 ILCS 5/3.25)
Sec. 3.310. Organized amateur or professional sporting activity. "Organized amateur or professional sporting activity" means an activity or event carried out at a facility by persons who engaged in that activity as a business or for education, charity or entertainment for the general public, including all necessary actions and activities associated with such an activity. This definition includes, but is not limited to, (i) rifle and pistol ranges, licensed shooting preserves, and skeet, trap or shooting sports clubs in existence prior to January 1, 1994, (ii) public hunting areas operated by a governmental entity, (iii) organized motor sports, and (iv) sporting events organized or controlled by school districts, units of local government, state agencies, colleges, universities, or professional sports clubs offering exhibitions to the public.

Lupe, your 7 is not a daily driver is it? B/c from the Ill state emmissions site it says that either your car is under exclusivly for racing and cant be street driven or its under show car that cant have more then 200? miles a year put on it.

And I'm wondering aswell as Madmax670 as to what can happen legally if I register this car to a PO box in which I dont live at.
