Idle problems...
I've got a 89 non-turbo with a new motor.I've been working on idle problems for a LONG TIME !!! to keep the motor running I had to keep it up around 3000-3500 rpm's. I adjusted the throttle cable and I've checked vac. lines and found 4-that were not hooked up. BUT 2 of these are to go to the primary's on the Throttle Body one comes from the BAC the other I'm not sure where it comes from ??? Some where under the intake " I Think "!!! My problem is my TB has NO Primary's to hook these vac. lines up to... these 2 lines right now are pluged off. IS there any way get around the primary's? Till I can find me a replacement TB. I've got the idle down to about 1800-2000 rpm's BUT it still runs"ruff Like a DOG"...some backfire... The car runs down the street like a DREAM...BUT when you get ready to slow down the RPM's bottom out and the car dies. It will stare right back up. At times the rpm's will bounce about 500rpms up and back.I can turn the car off and start it back up and MOST of the time it well stop bouncing around...
PLEASE any words of WISDOM... I've also noticed a REAL RICH smell of gas...I've adjusted the Screw on top of the TB. someone told me to screw it all the way in then back it out 1-1/2 turns...Was this GOOD or BAD??? The TPS seem to be working fine.In the morning I'm going to check the ground wire that goes to the back of the firewall.(someone said to check that...)
Thanks for reading this...I hope someone has some Good words of wisdom...Short of Shooting it...LOL...
Thanks, Mart
