Fun Run to Cedar Point (OH) Sat. Aug 11th.
OK the date is set!
Saturday, August 11th.
Meeting Place: Ohio's Wyandot Turnpike Plaza at Mile marker 77 Eastbound from Toledo to Sandusky. The Ohio Turnpike is a toll road. You pick up a ticket as you get on and pay the listed amount depending on where you get off. I think it's less than $5 each way. (Keep some cash handy or stop at a rest plaza ATM before you get off.)
Meet at the picnic tables outside the food court. See picture below. The building looks like this:

Meeting Time: 12:00pm EST. (I know this is a little late for some of you, but I'm thinking of those who are driving a long distance. Those of you from the central time zone, remember this is Eastern Time, +1 hour) The park is open till 11pm or 12am. Plenty of time to get your coaster fix. :Eyecrazy: If y'all think this is too late, please post up. I want to hear most from those who travel the furthest.
Parking at the rest plaza is limited in front and almost always full. I recommend parking in the rear lot. There will be long spaces for the mega-SUVs with trailers and we can fit a couple RX-8s in each one. This way we can leave together.
Grab some lunch here. There's some restaurants here, ATM, Gas, Oil, all the things necessary for us.
There is wireless internet but it's pay access.
Depart Time for Cedar Point: 12:45pm Eastern Time.
I'm giving some time for lunch, car check up and stragglers to arrive. Those coming from Chicago have bad traffic to deal with in NW Indiana, so plan ahead.
Caravans: I hope we will have a few caravans of cars coming to this event. This makes the trip a lot of fun when you can all drive together. It's fun to watch the other cars stare at the row of RXs headed down the interstate. I suggest you start a new thread for each caravan. Just title it Cedar Point Run Caravan: Michigan ... Use it to communicate with local members and coordinate meeting places.
Around 60 miles to go ... We'll leave together and head to Cedar Point. Head East on the Turnpike and get off at exit #118 (Hwy 250 Northbound) There's another route but this is easiest for a caravan of cars. I will pull off to the side after paying toll allowing room for cars to pull up behind. Use both lanes to get through quickly.
If we get separated, fear not. HWY 250 runs right into the tourist trap of Cedar Point. You will approach a bridge at the end and stay right. Follow the signs to CP. Right banking turn off HWY 250 onto Butler St and runs to a light. (Right turn onto 9th St I believe.) Left at light onto Cedar Point Drive. EASY!
Cedar Point charges $10 to park. Take any lane. I'll hang back as much as possible before sliding into a space
At the park: I assume you guys will want to take pictures of the cars and socialize. If you just want to go straight in, go for it. Try to wear a t-shirt that is related to RXs so other members can identify you in the park. We don't have to stay together if you don't wish. I know those who bring families will have a hard time keeping the kids from dashing off.
I will stay till close. For those who do, I suggest grabbing a hotel room in town. You can drive back, but a day in the sun will sure wear you out. I don't want anyone to have accidents on the way home. I plan to get a room. Undecided on where right now.
On Sunday, I plan to take an alternate route back. (Route #2) It leads up to Toleado. (I'll give more details to those in that caravan.)
I hope to see you'll there. I'll make a list of those planning to attend.

FYI: You guys have almost no information on RX8club.com. Theres a dedicated link to the MWRR but only one post on the '07 gathering. It gives the addy to the WI club website but it's not hotlinked. Without your post or following the web addy, I'd never know the date of the event. (Just my 2 cents to help your event.)
Good luck and have fun. I always look forward to the pics.
