Fs/ft: 1987 Rx-7 Gxl

Hey guys, I've been looking for a TII, and basically as soon as I buy one I am selling my 87 GXL that I use for my daily driver. It's been a good car to me, but I need a car that's a beater instead of something that I'm worried about getting dings and basically treat as a project car. I've owned it for almost 2 1/2 years now, and have never had a problem with it besides blowing a coolant line and the clutch wearing out. It's never left me stranded yet besides those two times. I'll list the mods that I can think of:

1987 Mazda RX-7 GXL
Champage Red body, charcoal gray interior
Power windows and power sunroof
113k miles on engine and body
No rust with some dents, dings, and scratches
Clearcoat starting to peel off bumpers
S5 mirrors
FTP lenses removed (still have them in a box)
Rear license plate surround removed
Mazdatrix license plate surround
Trim and tailights painted to match body
BBS convertable rims (missing the centercaps)
Interior in great shape, needs new double DIN, idiot light surround, and vent piece
Carpets and floormats in good shape, just needs a good Rug Doctor job to make it like new
Battery relocated to passenger storage bin (2 gauge welder's cable, 150 amp circuit breakers, soldered termnials, done the right way)
Optima Yellow Top D34/78 battery
Stock exhaust manifold wrapped with DEI exhaust wrap and sprayed with gray silicone sealer spray
New OEM exhaust manifold gasket
2.5" piping from manifold to stock mufflers
Mobil 1 75W90 synthetic in rear differential
Redline MT90 in transmission
New OEM rear transmission seal
New OEM front transmission seal
New OEM rear main seal
New OEM Exedy clutch disc
New OEM Exedy clutch plate
New OEM pilot bearing
New OEM throwout bearing
Stock flywheel resurfaced
K&N oil filter
Castrol GTX 20W50
Throttle body mod
All emissions removed and blocked
Thermowax removed and block
BAC removed and blocked
Charcoal canister removed
ACV and silencer removed and blocked
Split air pipe removed and blocked
5th and 6th port actuators and rods removed and blocked
OMP removed in favor of pre-mix
New OEM LIM gasket
New OEM UIM gasket
All grounds cleaned, greased, and re-bolted
Power steering and AC systems removed
NGK spark plugs
NGK spark plug wires
New starter cables (2 gauge welder's cable, soldered terminals)
Goodyear Gatorback belts (2)
Rotary Innovations dual alternator pulley
Prestone Flush 'N Fill kit
Cooling system flushed and cleaned
New OEM radiator cap
New OEM closure cap
New OEM water thermo sensor
New OEM waterpump
New OEM waterpump housing gasket
New OEM thermostat
New OEM thermostat housing gasket
Prestone Extended Life coolant
50% coolant/50% distilled water mix

The only problems that the car has now is that the logicon and idiot light panel need resoldered. The clock does not come on and the logicon will not re-direct the air when you press the buttons. The only other issue the car has is that it will not idle until it's warmed up a bit. This is due to the BAC valve and cold start assist being removed. To me this isn't a big deal because I don't sit there and let the car warm up for minutes anyways, but some people may not like it. The reverse lights don't come on either, but that's more than likely that the wire is loose from the sensor on the tranny. Sound system needs finished. Has a CD player and rear speakers, but no front speakers. You also have to pre-mix the car, which many 7 owners do not find to be a problem. Rear window needs to be re-tinted. Will need new pads and rotors too.

Now the good. The engine has great compression. Last time I checked approximately 2,000 miles ago the engine was pushing 95 PSI compression using both Rotary Resurrection's test and Pineapple Racing's test. I'm sure it could even be higher than what it was. At the time I had a very bad and old battery in and not the Optima, so it could very well be closer to the 98 PSI mark. The car also gets in the high 20's per gallon highway. Interstate I've gotten 30 MPG. As soon as the car warms up it runs excellent. Car handles very well and very responsive after removing the power steering. Has tons of top-end power. I'm very happy with this car and really don't want to sell it because it's been a blast to drive, but I won't need 2 RX-7's. I know the car needs some work, but all the work it needs is pretty minor stuff. Would make a great project car or daily driver.

I'm looking to get $2,000 OBO for the car. If you need to get ahold of me, PM me here or send e-mail to templeton_cody@hotmail.com. Thanks for checking this out guys.

Would make a decent DD after you fixed the brakes. I've been using at as my DD for 2.5 years now and still love it. I just need something that's got a rear seat now since I've got a girlfriend and not living the single life anymore. The car runs great, it's just that you have to take the place of the cold start assist and the OMP.

These are pictures from a year ago, I'm going to try and get some recent ones up. This will give you an idea though.

Just washed the car and got some pictures! Click the link below to view them.

Price is firm at 2000 OBO. If you would like to take a look at the car or need anymore info or pictures, let me know. I was going to take the wheels off the car tomorrow and inspect the brakes. I'm pretty sure all the pads are good, it's just the front rotors could be turned or replaced. Thanks for the interest guys.

Bumping this! I got my new car, so this needs to go. I'm thinking of putting new front rotors on the car before it's sold, so I'm going to do some pricing out today. If you need more details about the car, PM me or e-mail me at templeton_cody@hotmail.com.
