Dumb question

I'm new to this forum, i'm usually over at grandmarq.net Anywho, I don't know much at all about RX7's but by joining this forum I hope to learn more about em. But I have a stupid question for you guys to start off with: do any RX7's have beakseats, or are they only two seaters? I know this is a dumb question, but I don't know the answer. Can someone help me out?

I was just wondering, because i'm thinkin of purchasing an RX7, but if it's only a two seater I may not. I'm only 16, and insurance with be a PITA for a two seater. But I am curious to see how those rotary engines move, as i'm used to SBF's.

The second gen had a 2+2 option. But they can be hard to find.

Talk to your, or your parents insurance agent and see if there is any break between the 2 seater and the 2+2. My 87 has rear seats, but there is very little difference in the premiums between it and the 85. The biggest thing that will hurt you is if they classify it as a sports car. A friend of mine had his insurance cancelled once he moved out and they classed his 1st gen as a sports car. He was also under 21 with a very bad driving record.

Btw, welcome to the forum, and as we like to say in the 1st gen section, 'The Darkside'. Also welcome to the neighborhood, I'm an hour north of you. In my sig line is a link to the online FSMs, rotary related books and materials. Last line in the sig is my little toy. If you need help with a 7 or mechanical repairs, PM me.

Thanks for the welcomes. I'm still interested in buying one, but i'm not sure I can afford one right now. I'm gonna get a job this summer and maybe i'll earn enough to pay for one. The only problem is I have no clue how to work on rotary engines. I'm familiar with 302's and 351's. The first car I had(the one in my user name) has a fuel injected 302, so that's what I first learned to work on. I'd like to learn about these engines, and maybe someday I will. As for now, i'm working on school and getting a job next summer.

Putting rear seats in an FD won't do anything to the premium. It's based on VIN, nothing more. The only discounts you may get are multiple car, good driver, good student and security, which you'll get already since it does have anti-theft.
