Anyone need a room in Iowa City, IA (Aug 2005)?

If this isn't appropriate, feel free to move/delete it (and inform me of the fact, please).

I have a duplex for rent in northeast Iowa City. I'm looking for a roommate so I can afford the place. It's one side of a duplex, 2 story, with a finished basement. $500/mo plus utilities gets you a nice place to live with an attached single car garage (though don't plan to park a car in it regularly... I have a lot of projects to work on), and I'll be providing a few couches, a 36" TV with attached TV-computer with 600 gig of assorted stuff on it, some tools, etc.

It's in a residential area, but reasonably quiet, and with a big driveway. Plenty of space for cars/motorcycles/etc. It also has a deck, and a fenced in back yard.

I also have 3 ferrets who spend a good deal of time roaming around. I'm also planning to feed them raw feeder mice, so... if you don't like ferrets, or think the thought of carnivores eating other animals is disgusting, you might want to pass.

Reason this is RX-7 club related? I have two RX-7s currently (both S4 NAs), experience with rebuilding engines, and plans of turning a 87 GXL into a fast turbo project car in the next year or two. So, if you have a '7, there's plenty of experience floating around.

I'm a 23 yr old male, straight, Christian, not a huge party person (and there won't be any gigantic drunken parties at the house), slightly social, a non-smoker (though an outside smoker is fine), and a bit on the messy side.

Anyone interested? PM me.

Hm, dont need a place but would be cool with helping out on a few projects. I need some insight on turbos and making it all work, so the knowledge learned would be payment enough. Unless, of course you would be cool with helping me (cough cough). That would work as payment too. You should make this GXL all wheel drive. I have the drivetrain for it....... I will sell CHEAP. Just throwing that out there.

All wheel drive drivetrain for a RX-7? I'm interested... PM or IM me, I'd like to hear more.

I really know nothing of turbos yet, though.

Hey Fellas,
I live in the area, however, I'm married and don't need a place to live, so I'm not much help in that aspect. However, I obviously am a fan of RX7's being on this board. I have had a couple of S4 NA's, but I currently have a TII.

Russ-I am also a Christian. If you are looking for a place to go to church, I would recommend Parkview. It's really easy to get to, and the pastor actually speaks like he is a normal guy. My wife and I have been attending there for about 2 years now. Were are you going to be living at? I use to live on the corner of Scott Blvd and Court St.

Ian-I am going to be pulling the turbo manifold off sometime today or tomorrow. If you are interested in stopping by you're welcome to. Just give me a call and I will give you directions.

Later,
-Brandon

Thanks for the offer Brandon. I may have to give you a call tomorrow and come up and check it out. I live in Washington, so I go to IC relatively often. Hey Russ, if you happen to know of anyone wanting a Vert hood let me know. It is aluminum but doesnt have them turbo bump thing. Actually, if you want any parts from a S4 vert let me know. My friend decided to part his out. Drivetrain and engine are spoken for but everything else is still available as far as I know.

How much for the hood?

I'm doing another project.

I know a lot of about turbos.

He says he will take 125 for it. It is red and had 3 small dents. The dents are from underneath though so they are high spots. Other than that, it is in excellent shape. You met him at the first meet. He had the vert.

BTW, he will also be selling his front brake calipers.

Nice. I assume you'll be letting me know when my steering rack is ready?

I'd like to get the place rented ASAP, but feel free to let me know when you're looking for a place.

Well, I have no renters yet...

What are you looking for, workwise? I have some good contacts in the area.

If you decide to rent the place, I'll offer a signing bonus of a manual steering rack...

I'm busy next weekend moving, sadly. IM me, I might be able to get you in touch with some people about work.

Good luck! In an overly saturated field w/no Bachelors your choices will be very, very limited. There's not many good paying admin jobs in Eastern Iowa, and even less that take someone without a degree.

thats wat the tech was for haha, I make out decent fixin **** for residntial people, but my cashflow sucks! Plus the place i went to for training is known for helping students in the door- my other classmates have already secured similar postions through the recomentadions form them. I agree though it is tough, however everyone i know with a degree dosent seem to be faring any better than i am ...
