Anyone near Springfield, Illinois Please Look Inside

Recenty purchased a car in Springfield. I'll be picking it up next Friday the 11th. I'm looking for someone who can competently perform a compression test on a 3rd gen. Willing to throw you a few bucks for your help and time. Please Instant message me on AIM at vha27 or reply to this post.

thanks,
chris

Chris.

Just have the present owner take the car to a local Mazda dealership for the compression test. The rotaries use a specific compression tester. You could use a typical compression tester for a ball park test, but I prefer the Mazda tester. Ask the dealership to fax you the results. The test should cost around $100.

fwiw, the compression specs for a 93 or lower than the 94 and 95 model

I believe that most Mazda technicians should be competent enough to perform this test. I aasume you have heard/read horror stories about the dealerships, but this is a relatively easy test.

I don't have the specs nearby, but I if I recall correctly the min for the 93s was about 90 psi and the min for the 94-95s was approx 105psi. There is also a max delta between the peaks that you need to be concerned about. The dealer should give you all this info with the test results.

good luck
