I own a computer dataAq rotary compression tester. I live in rosemount but it is currently in coon rapids at my budies shop. If you are interested i could come to your house to test it for half what a dealer would charge you. It gives a nice puter graph and can be printed.

Not to say that a standard compression tester wont give you a good general idea if used right.

Have a cousin in Two Harbors and visit about 1x/year (not last year). Will give you a heads up if I make it up there this summer.

I'm in Hutchinson but frequent the Anoka/ Coon Rapids area. Currently gutting a FC N/A. will probably be looking for a TII or RE engine soon.

Try doing the LSx swap so I will have nearby who has been through the trials and tribulations before I get to it.

I have been considering it. The only thing that keeps me from doin it is that I am sick of GM engines. I would feel like its just another V8 transplant. Im lookin educate myself with the rotary.

If things dont go well with my current build I may just drop in a V8. I'll let you know if I do it.

Alright guys just leting you guys know that my 90 gtu rolling shell is for sale with everything in it except motor, tranny, engine harness and ecu. I'm looking for $1100obo. The car is 99% rust free just a eraser sized spot on the rear driver side wheel well. The sunroof was broken into and needs a new piece of glass but the car has been completely cleaned out since.there are 69,000 original miles on it. It's red with black cloth. Send me an e-mail at myurcek05@gmail.com or pm me.

I have plenty more picture including the motor coming out of the car and the engine bay cleaned up.

Brian - Come over to my house or we can meet up this summer - been there, done that - works awesome. Can definitely help with what not to do/what to do.

I'll take the GM LS2 over a 20B any day (yes...I AM speaking from experience), let alone a 13B/ REW/ RE...

Curious what Trupain thinks of as "another V8 transplant". What have you done before? Not picking on you, just would like to know what other things have come across your plate - sounds pretty cool.

I've put a 360 in an 89 daytona, That was a blast. put a 425 into an early 80s mustang, Threw 2 rods through the oil pan... oops. Assisted building many hot rods/pro street cars. and was on the #45 modified race team till the driver had a heart attack.

i think a V8 in the FC would be awesome and I may end up doing it. For me im kind of new to the rotary and im looking for more of a learning experiance than anything else.

That being said... any of you guys who want to get rid of a working 13b, 13b-t or any other rotary 86 and newer I would be happy to take it off your hands.

Anyway I dont really think the LS* swap is within the grasp of by budget at this time unless the engine fairy drops an Engine/harness/ecu/trans on my doorstep lol

If any of yall are doing, or have done the V8 swap I would love to see it in person or even help ya do it if ya want.

I will have to take you up on that someday soon. I need a kick in the rear to move forward. Problem is, after years of tinkering on my cars it finally dawned on me a few years ago that I make more money tinkering on houses and selling them than tinkering on cars and selling them. I hope to have my house on the market by the end of the month.

Very cool - don't expect any torque out of a rotary, more like driving a sewing machine. Very smooth and high revving but no brute force, that and NA's are going to get you about 160-210 rwhp at the most, turbo's are more like 300-350 with aftermarket ecu, turbo, and accessories to support it. Depends upon what you are looking for output, reliability, and street or race fuel.

There are plenty of rotary engines in the junk yard, typically 86-88's are fairly common.

A LS1 swap is in the $5-8K range depending upon what you can do yourself. This is bare bones with no frills with something like a front clip or donor camaro, firebird, or similar F-body.

If you're around the mall of america on a weekend say something and we can meet up so you can see mine if you want.
