any helpful chicago area fc owners out there?

im stuck on this project car and i need some serious help. im also a college student and i am broke as hell, so i cant really afford to take it anywhere to get fixed. its an 88 gxl n/a, with a fresh motor. i had a friend who was helping me with the entire swap, and at the last minute we started arguing about a few things, and now im stuck on this project on my own. the car starts, idles after its warm, but really lacks on power. i have no idea how to get it running smooth, so i think i need some help with this one. if anyone lives in the chicago/downers grove area and can help me out, pm me. thanks- jake

btw, im not asking for any free help. if you can get my car running smooth, i am willing to pay you for your time.

First, try to work things out with your friend. A broken ego far outweighs a broken FC, especially if your friend has the knowhow to do a full motor swap.

Second, try the Midwest FC forum as there are lots of FC owners in the ChiTown.

Third, You may be more capable than you think. Get an FSM, Haynes, Some tools, and constant internet access to check the forum for help and I'll bet you could do it. You'd be surprised how stickey situations with these cars can turn out to be immense learning opportunities and can refresh your drive to perfect your car.

Improper timing can potentially own your engine performance.

I agree with codered tho, its important to break in your motor first before really opening it up.
