MI Any 500+rwhp fd's around???

Hey guys...im currently getting my 93 built at defined autoworks and was told to see if anybody close to me had a 500+hp fd to take a ride in to see what the power feels like. I was getting power hungry and was told that 500+ hp is a lot in a fd. So if it isnt too much to ask i was seeing if anyone is willing to take me for a joy ride in one of there 7's. Im am in between toledo oh. and detroit. I am willing to drive to wherever so let me know and id greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!

well....since nobody is giving free rides lol im hopin maybe somebody that has an rx7 with around that much horsepower would be able to tell me what they are running in the 1/4. I was told with around 5-600 i should easily be able to see 10's if not 9's. Dont know how much of this is true but im hopin it is....car should be done within the next 2 weeks...wish me luck!

Well with that rwhp a FD is leathal. At 400-450 you will beat damn near anything you come along on the street. Also telling you a trap time will do you no good. It all depends on if or how well you can drive your car and how its set up. I have seen 1500rwhp vipers run 13's.

1/4 times, as stated by RR^^, isn't just big HP numbers but driver skill as well. I have just over 500whp on a gt42r (drinking 93 and meth) and I absolutely love it. (sorry I live in NYC lol) Power is crazy at 6000RPMs but 4000-6000 isn't too shabby either. And 3000-4000 is plenty to get around town. The only downfall to the 42r is that it's really laggy from light to light. Highway is real fun though and not much is going to be able to touch you with a 500whp 2000+ lb car.

Yes very true on both statements.....track driving i dont have much experience with, but then again have never had a car worth taking to a track lol. And im just hoping it will be everything i am expecting. I am dumpin a lot of money into this build and am hoping it will be well worth it. Defined is setting me up with the new GT40r with the billet compressor wheel, and from what i heard the thing is basically a 42r. Im just nervous, ive never had anybody else work on my car.

Last year I dynoed at 425 and ran 12.3 in the 1/4. That was with stock suspension, crapped out tranny and shitty street tires. I have seen guys on here with no more than 450 hitting 10.9's. are you looking for a daily driver? I can tell you a 500hp daily driver wont be that great.

Hahaha no this wont be my daily driver.....i dont think it would last very long or even in that case be a good choice to build it that much. I have a 2005 R1 and a lil scion tc for my daily drivers. Im building my tranny and my rear diff. I will be running the nitto NT01 drag radials (275) on 9 1/2" wide rims. Which im hoping should be plenty. But im waiting for somebody to give me some ideas or tips on how to get this car to hook. I ran 275 bfgoodrich drag radials last year and lost grip in every gear

Your looking at traction having to do with tires. Your spings, shocks and bushing play the biggest part. If you plan on hooking hard you better plan on new axels as well. The diff casing is weak as well, just to let you know so swap to a 8.8 ford rear.

well....im spending soo much money on this build right now i guess im gonna have to do with what i have for right now....i was kinda looking for an easier way to gain a little more traction than what i have right now.....so im guessing i should start seeing how much i can get a 8.8 fod rear for huh lol

Just a suggestion............I run bias ply et street 16'' tires at 16/17 psi.
Delron motor mounts.
solid trannie brace.
t2 clutch diff.
diff brace.
b&m shifter.
16 year old shocks and stock springs.
Stock axles.
Launch with a little clutch slip at 7000-8000 rpms and it leaves good!
2740 lbs with ac,power steering,leather,and cruise control.

I think i can get 10.60 out of it im going to try!
I dont make things up or strech the truth so these mods or lack of mods do work and it runs these times every time at the track and still gets 22mpg!

Let us know how it goes!

well thats pretty impressive...i still have the stock rims sitting in my barn, and have a pair of 17's too. I think after seeing that video i might use the stock rims as my drag rims. I was just thinkin that it wouldnt hurt to have something wider.

Will do!! thanks for all the help....the car should be back end of next week, then ill see how she does with the power. If she doesnt do too hot then i guess ill start working on the traction. I have an eibach spring kit on the car but i have the stock springs in a box....think the stocks would be better?? Or should i price out a pair of drag springs?
