I have been running my ltx8 for a while now, but after my rebuild I have started having ignition issues with it.

It worked fine for about 10 mins after my first startup, but then the car started to idle funny and studder, so I checked and I was only getting spark on L1 and T2!

T1 and L2 have no spark, but the coils are good. I pulled my ignition harness and checked it for shorts.....none.

The MT shows no errors.

There is still no spark in test mode.

If I hook say the yellow wire (L1) up to the coil for T1 and check T1 spark in test mode, it sparks.

This has left me with two possibilities: The MT is busted, or could it be a grounding issue?

Anybody have any idea what could be wrong with this bastard?

 

well ****, today all of the ignition outputs failed, so I pulled the mt out and it was blistering hot. It looks like something shorted out in the ignition part of the ecu. what could have caused this???

 

I pulled the ecu apart and it looks like the ignition part of the circut is completely fried....now what? Send it to mt or what?

 

No you probably dont have to ship it back!

mine had the same problem and it was only 2 transistors that got toasted and 2 little printed circuit melted

any GOOD electronic/cybernetic shop could probably help here

I got mine fixed at my friend cybernetics shop! cheap repair costs too!

So what exactly caused the short? I cant find anything wrong with my harness wiring.

Also this is a picture of what mine looks like. Does anyone have a picture of a good circuit board? This one is probably toasted too much to have someone do a repair. If I had a picture tho, I was told it might be possible to repair it.

what caused the problem to start with?
bad electronics or something you did?

 

I dont know. My wiring had no shorts in it, and the coils had the proper resistence. I guess it must have been an internal problem. I resoldered all the components and ran new wires where needed and got it to work for a couple minutes, but it got hot again (with different coils and wiring this time). So I ordered new components from an electronics supply store and I will put those in and try.
