Question about running N/A

Ive got a quick question.

Im going to need to get somewhere to have some custom IC pipes made. Would it be ok to drive in n/a form there? Just stick a filter on the end of my intake elbow. Its about 10-15 miles away. I figure I could just slap some metal screening over my turbo.

Yes, but just be very careful. If you give it too much throttle, you will overspin your turbo, and probably damage it. Keep the revs and the throttle as low as you can, and it will be fine.

How would it overspin? Is it because its not making any pressure, so it spings more freely? Im a little confised.

It's the act of actually compressing the air into the intake which limits the speed of the compressor. If the turbo's just freewheeling, it's not actually doing any compressing, so it has nothing to limit its speed.

I was wondering, would it be better to run it non-intercooled? Maybe make a test pipe from the turbo to the elbow?

Well, if you're going to just putz around town, keep the revs down, and not give it too much gas, it'll be fine. (Say, 50% throttle max and under 3000 RPM). If not, an IC test pipe would be a good idea.

Keep in mind that because it's speed-density, you don't need anything after the throttle plates at all if you don't want it! Travis was pleasanly suprised when we didn't have to hook up his IC to start his car for the first time... it was like an epiphany.
