Problems with Microtech

I've been trying to tune my motorsports club car and I've been having some problems. The main one is I can't get the ECU to connect to my computer. Are there any drivers that I have to install or anything to get it to connect? Secondly, we aren't getting consistent spark... is this something we can fix with the ECU or is this a seperate problem??

do you have your comm1 and comm2 ports configured properly?

is your serial port setup as comm1 or comm2?

I am using a docking station because my laptop does not have a serial port. I figured out what the problem with that was.
