Microtech problem

Hello all. I have a 1988 RX-7 Convertible. It has been equipped (proffessionally installed and tuned) with a Microtech LTx-8. The car has been sitting for a month or so. When driving at wide open throttle, the car will not accellerate past 3000 RPM. It will accellerate past 3000 rpm at half to three quarters throttle. TPS seems ok, as does the crank angle sensor. There are no cats on the car. The secondary port actuators seem to be working. I oiled them, and worked them by hand to make sure they were not frozen. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end. Tomorrow I am going to replace the fuel filter out of shear desperation. Thanks.

Sounds like your tuner doesn't know how to transition to the secondary injectors properly. The %Stage has to be adjusted, as well as the MAP and RPM stage values to suite the engine, then the main fuel map needs to be tuned.

Hopefully you didn't pay a lot for this "professional" tuning.

The car ran exceedinglay well for almost two years now. The problem began after it sat for a couple of months. Of note, there were three main fuses that blew before I parked the car. The person that tuned it is in Texas, and I am in Georgia, so sending it back is not really an option. Anyone know a tuner in Ga, or is this something I can do?

If it was perfect for long time and it got wrecked after sitting.
then id put my money on a bad fuel system, id do filters, fuel pump and possibly fuel reg.

I have a bit of a retarded question. Where does the microtech system store the information that you program it with (fuel curves, timing, etc...)? In the ECU itself, or in the hand control unit? I have heard both, anybody know for sure?

I replaced the fuel filter and did a tune up, it helped the car a bit. Still having the same problems, just not as bad. Reckon fuel injector cleaner would help?

Fuel injector cleaner that you dump into you tank is useless. The only way to clean the injectors is to have the removed from the car and professionally cleaned.
