Matrix Mode

Can anyone explain or have a demo of how to use the matrix side of the ecu. I had my laptop hooked up to it this weekend and switched it to matrix and it came up with the screen and highlighted each individual block as I reved the engine, but, I couldn't see how to input any figures into the blanks. I'm still running really rich at idle and the car tends to load up and start smoking and if it idles too long it starts to really get bad. I have all low imp injectors and I know they don't spray as nice as the high, but they are only 750 pri and 1000 sec. I believe if I remember right the secondaries don't come on until 3000. So, rich idle (11.0), trying to fix with matrix tuning at idle to correct loading up.

Have you read the manual "programming guide" --> "fuel control functions"?
Go to screen 1 and screen 8 to set up the basics. Later on you can go to screen 34 for copying the setup to the rest of the screens 2-16.

11.0 idle isnt that rich.
With the microtech your not going to get it much leaner without other headaches coming up.
i usually set them to 11.4-11.7 and no leaner.

ALSO. Matrix mode is very simple. Click on the cell you want to adjust and put in your number in it. Simple.

I tried that, but there was no entry on the screen. I'm only trying to lean out enough to stop from loading up. Its getting better as I go, now I thinks its just fine tuning it needs. Thats what I was trying to do with the matrix mode. I didn't think it was that hard, but whatever I'm doing isn't making any changes and theres no indication on the chart I made an entry. I'll try it again and see if maybe I was on crack that day and missed something.

Also.
The idle map does nothing on idle ironically.
you need to tune the map that the car is sitting in.
So if it idles at 1000rpm tune the 1000rpm map at what ever vaccum its pulling...

If you have matrix mode? then your computer is laptop programmable. You cant have matrix mode and not have the laptop function.

If your computer is a mt8 and it has NOT been upgraded it wont have matrix mode.

My bad i should have been more clear. I used a friend's laptop to try using the matrix or the laptop tuning but i could not get it to work. Cause the previous owner said it was a MT8 which he had upgraded. I guess he was blowing smoke

So most of the tuning has been done though the hand controller by a local tuner. It is not a bad tune but it is still to rich. How do i know if it has been upgraded ?

it could be an mt8 that has been upgraded.
has it got a laptop programmable sticker on the back of it?
also to use the laptop you need a MICROTECH DONGLE.
if you dont have this laptop will not work with the microtech.
