LT8 air temp question

When I first installed my Microtech It had a problem with the air temp sensor function ( it was reading -27 deg c in so california) it seems it was defaulted when it was made to a gm sensor. I sent it back to get re-configured by Microtech for the stock mazda air temp sensor. It was reading fine when tuned by Jon of RX engineering in august of last year. I was just at a track day at Ca Speedway this weekend and the car was blowing smoke under decel so we hooked up a laptop to set the decel to 24hg and I noticed that the air temp sensor was reading - 27 deg again. I'm going to try a GM sensor. My question is. Could the unit have reverted back to the original GM default for air temp. Or is the unit faulty? I think this might be causing the Smoking problem either due to it cooking my oil seals in the turbo or is is getting way to much fuel and timing. The car smokes lightly under load and Alot on Decel. Any help would be appreciated. Brian
