Microtech Keep Stock ECU in Background?
Keep Stock ECU in Background?
Hi all,
I'm starting to seriously look in to getting a Microtech, but I can see a few small snags. I live in the great state of Kalifornia, which means that an aftermarket ECU is a big no-no because of the super strict smog laws. I was wondering if it is possible to wire up the MT to control fuel & ignition, but also keep the stock ECU wired to the solenoids (twin scroll, purge, etc) and emissions stuff like the ACV and EGR solenoid. I know that I would only have the MT wired in to the injectors and coils so that the stock unit couldn't interfere, but would they need to share any sensors (coolant/air temp, CAS, etc) for the stock ECU to maintain its other functions? Has anyone here done something like this before? If so, any problems passing a smog test? Thanks
