Just got my 7 started

Some of you may have seen my posts in here since last January. Well the planets have aligned and finally got the RX-7 to run and start with my rebuilt engine (street port) and Microtech LT-10s. I will probably have a lot of 'dumb' questions since I am just getting started with this ECU and tuning in general. Trust me I used the search function but I want to apologize if I missed something and my subject has already been beat to death.

First off I know this one has been beat but I have to ask it.
This is an excerpt from Jon's post (second to last post in the thread)
https://www.rx7club.com/microtech-111/proper-way-zero-timing-228082/
To end up with the same result using the static option, lock the timing & adjust the crank angle sensor so the yellow mark is lined up with the pointer, then put +5deg in static. The ecu will then add 5 deg overall in all your timing values. So as you know, the timing was locked at 5 deg atdc but with the 5 deg static value it is now at TDC,and all the timing values in all the screens will be correct.

- The timing question. I want to check the timing with a timing light but when I use it, it seems like the light is everywhere and is not consistent. I am assuming this has something to do with 'locking the timing', how do I do that using the microtech software? for a beginner like me is it worth it to have the 5deg buffer? Either way I want to double check my setting with the timing light

- Once the static timing is set, where should I start with the rest of the timing? Right now I just have it to the point where it will start and run relatively smooth, but I just stabbed the CAS and turned it to get to this point.

-When I let off the throttle it seems like my car wants to idle at 1200-1000 rpm, but when I stick my foot under the throttle and pull up the RPMs go down. Does this happen on your FCs? I am guessing something might have lost its stretch in the throttle linkage. have any of you experienced this?

-One more thing, how the hell do I datalog with this damn thing? I click on Data LOGGER (top menu bar) then it takes me to the logger screen. Once in there I hit the green button (Start log) but I get an error box saying 'Data LOG File currently open'. WTF.

Thanks guys you are life savers.

For timing its very easy..

To begin with you have to stab the CAS correctly.

Line up the yellow mark on the pulley to the mark on the front cover.

Stab the CAS in so it looks like this

http://www.hitman.hm/MazCAS-2s.jpg

Start the car.

Go to the microtech and their is an option called Timing_Lock.
Switch it on.

Get your timing light out and put it on L1(bottom front) and it should be flashing somewere around the Yellow mark. You will need to turn the CAS forward or backwards to get the Mark to line up.

Youll probably find that it will have to turn the CAS so that the CAS bolt or stud is to the front of the car compared to the CAS.

Next
Switch the TIMING_lock off and adjust your static timing to 0 and your timtrm to 0 and your timMAX to 45.

Go to your T_rpm idle map and put 5 degrees.

ANd start your tuning from their.

Opt Static +00 - is that what you mean by adjust your static timing to 0?

I looked at mine and noticed that if you look your picture there is a dimple at the base of the white arrow pointing to the top right.

Mine looks exactly like yours does only the dimple is towards the bottom left. I imagine there is no difference but just checking.

Also when it seems to be able to start much easier if I crank the CAS all the way counter clockwise.

I have never noticed a difference.
Your engine is new.
Put the timing were it should be. And go put some miles on it. ANd it will start better. rebuilt engines can be a ******* to start.
