Drivability of LT8/12

Are there any drivability issues with a Lt8 or 12? With tuning, can it be made to drive like a stock car? Start up every time, no hesitation, basically a setup your grandmonther could drive and not complain about. And is there anythign that runs through the stock ecu that Im goign to have a problem with like a/c?

without ANY tuning at all, my car ran great, no bucking, somking, surging, anything. It does run a little rich though, but that's easy to fix.

With proper tuning, an LT8-equipped car will run as well as any car with a standalone will.

That is to say, worlds better than the crap stock computer.

Ask Dan (BlackFC).

(Hint: everything on his car still works, except the cruise, which he removed)

i've currently got no a/c or std boost gauge since fitting my ECU. (S4)
i belive the a/c is a matter of hooking up one wire to power or earth (can't remember which lol)

the boost gauge seems to need a 5v power input that the sender used to get from the std ECU.. i havent tested it yet, but if true you just need a 5v regulator hooked up

any one else done this or another way?

As you SHOULD tune it, I had to tune mine a bit for low throttle crusing. After that, it runs better than stock around town.

The stock water temp and boost gauges won't work anymore, unless you keep your stock harness or run new wires to them, since they are in the ECU harness most people remove.

The WW/CC are in a harness seperate but attatched to the old engine harness. Cut any wires going to the engine bay from the 2 large plugs inside of the firewall and remove the pins/cut wires. Replace the smaller harness that has the wiring for WW/CC and wala! Done.

My LT-8 went on a completely stock motor. It has some issues with hesistation...but that wasn't too bad to fix (took me 2 days of not really knowing, 15-20 minutes of driving/tuning to get it fixed).

Your grandma will probably complain about the smell. I'm premixing and running rich...needless to say, stand behind the car too long and your gonna pass out.

Edit:

Another thing with the stock map that I noticed (I kept the cold start assist...so this may vary), it took excessively long to crank compared to stock. All I had to do was turn down the extra fuel supplied while cranking and the extra fuel supplied at lower temps. Now it catches on the 2-3 turn (like it used to) instead of the 7-8.
