Changeover

I've been toying with the idea of installing a microtech I've had lying around for a year now. Not for a while but I'm just starting to do my homework and comparing your maps to my previous maps. I have a couple questions

1 This particular unit was once on the wagon pictured in my avatar. It was therefore sent to me as a 4cyl sequential setup. On the back of my manual the only differences from a 13b setup is the coil diagram and the injector pins read Inj.1-Inj.4-Inj.2-Inj.3 instead of Inj.Prim.1-Inj.Sec.1-Inj.Prim.2-Inj.Sec.2 So do you think I might have to send it back to microtech to get some stuff reflashed or can I just change around the variables on the setup menu

2This will be for an NA car. I didn't look at the FAQ to confirm but I assume the injectors spray at a lower rate that a Turbo. So can I just take the ratio between the two injection rates and multiply that times your load and idle maps to get NA base maps?

3I didn't see any maps in matrix mode. Does anyone switch to this to get more resolution?

I'm pretty sure that the box will have to go back to Microtech to be programmed for the coolant and air temp sensors as well as ignition.

NA injectors are 460CC, while turbo injectors are 550CC. You will need to tune the map manually. The "turbo" base map will start the NA engine without a problem but it is just a base map...Only useful for driving to the dyno.

In order to generate the matrix maps, you need to switch to matrix mode then I believe hold down the PROG button for a few seconds. It's been a while and I don't have the manual handy so I may be wrong. The manual is of course available for download on the Microtech website.

The maps I have on there for the wagon are currently in matrix mode. I just wanted to know if any rx7's are currently using it. I wouldn't blame anyone for not posting them since the maps make 18 more times the amount of typing.

What I meant about the injectors is that below atmospheric the maps should in theory be the same because they are generated based on map. So is there any flaw in the logic that say a coordinate at 15"Hg on the load map of 1.86ms couldn't be converted to a non turbo map by multiplying by 460/550 ie 1.55ms

I don't see why the box would have to go back to microtech for ignition since the firing order would be the same. Since half the cylinders reach TDC on sequential 360 degrees pas the other two wouldn't it just be a matter of figuring out which go to the leading plugs and which go to the trailing plugs. I think I may have to check on the other sensors to see if they opperate on the same voltage signals the protege5 did. I just find it interesting that you can switch on the setup menu to rotors and another menu has the gap timing function
