Someone can get you started but it will still need to be tuned. Engines and setups that are exactly identical will need slightly different tunes. The best thing to do is find a tuner in your area and bite the bullet now before something gets damaged.

What he said. The base map that comes with the unit should be good enough to start the car and drive it out of boost, but it will have to be tuned to your specific configuration. That can only be done by someone with physical access to the car and who knows what they are doing.

you will find that one of the only problems that i have come across with microtech, is that you can not save maps and such. You have to put everything in manually

I don't get it you mean that you have to have a laptop connected at all times?

No. What he is saying is that MT does not support saving maps to a file. The only way to save a map is to save it on the handset or to a laptop adapter. Either has the capacity to hold 4 maps. If I have a map that works great on setup X and you happen to have exactly the same setup I can't email you a file that contains my map. I must physically bring the device that I have it stored on (MT handset or laptop adapter) to your ECU and download it from that device.

Follow the MT forums and their techs continually say they're working on changing so you can save to a file. My guess is that they make enough profit from selling laptop adapters that they're reluctant to change.

Sharing maps is evil. It blows up engines.

isn't all that difficult to write down and type out a full map.

no i will not give you my map because i will explode like your engine does after the tuning is insufficient for your setup and i get blamed for putting up a 'bunk map'.

everything in this thread is true, sharing maps is a very bad idea. every engine is unique in and of itself so even identically setup engines will have different requirements so what works for someone may not work for you with ill consequences.
