ok i need to tune my rx-7 i have intake exhaust and clutch now tell me what i have to do to buy or set up this megasquirt thing is it a ecu or is it a chip or is it a program that u buy and then reprogram the ecu to? i dont know but i need tuning bad

 

The Megasquirt is a full standalone EFI system that most often completely replaces the factory wiring and ECU. In some configurations it can be run as a piggyback and control either fuel, ignition, or both.

It's a DIY system and is open source. This means that it is your job to make it work with your setup. However there is a detailed FAQ in this subforum which covers most of the steps required.

 

logie what part of va beach you live in ? we have some meets at the jenros on like every saturday. just look for rx7's. sorry to put this here i dont want to break any forum rules.
but aaron got you there. its a full stanealone like any other. but its a more do it yourselfer. i know peter he is like the local guy here that know the MS setup. as far as rotary so far im the only one here that actually has a 7 running on megasqurit v3.0 . there is a few others that are on there way to getting there car running on megasquirt.
you have alot of reading ahead of you if you choose to go with a megasquirt. but what standalone doesnt?

just stick with it, as far as ems go, ms will give you the most bang for the buck, and rotarys are awesome for people who like to DIY. One thing you should know though, your going to need to do everything with the ms setup, including soldering the electronics to the board. You can buy prefabbed boards, but you will still need to swap out some components to work with a rotary properly, and they cost nearly twice as much. However, if you got some patience, you can build yourself a sweet setup for almost 4 times less then more mainstream ems's out there.

 

this your first rotary? does the car atleast run or it does it atleast turn over? can we post pictures on here of his setup? Moderators can he post pic on this link? id like to see his starting point. to far of a drive for me to see in person lol.

 

yea my car runs an drives its my daily but i work rite up the street from my house like a mile and yes its my first rotary the way i got it is the way u all r gunna c it tonite at jenros i need some help wit it its slow as ***** arrons at the shop on little creek told me its cuz the actuators dont open the kid i got it from took out the vacume silinoide and they dont open with out that he told me to wire them open but idk but any way feed back should i wire them open or not?

 

oh your talking about the fifth and sixth ports yeah there vacumed opperated . some people take them out for a better top end but i personally dont see any differance. and then you end up loose all your low end tourge . what time you going to jenros ? and what color is your rx7 ? ill go around 4-6pm ill be driving a white nissan sentra 2000 model. let me know if you care to meet , be happy to see whats up with the car.

 

was at jenros with sean ,alex, and rob ,all in 2nd gens. didnt see anything new as far as another rotary . saw a silver first gen but he was driving out.
and 2 rx8's . silver and charcoal grey.

They are pressure activated, not vacuum.

Pulling them out will result in no top end gain, only low to midrange torque loss.
