Megasquirt Which version for my 88 n/a, 2b TII
Which version for my 88 n/a, 2b TII
I got a 88 SE n/a i wanted to get a MS ecu. I will be doing the TII swap maybe next year and was hoping on get one I wouldn't have to change anything on. There will not be much done with the tII setup maybe a slightly larger turbo but mainly stock. Which MS would be the best to go with. I would rather buy everything assembled.
Since I have no real knowledge Zan Tunning on this forum will be tunning it. Not sure if theres enough info or not.

You should probably be asking your tuner this question since that's who will be working with it. Pnp's will obviously work assuming that your stock harness is in good condition, however a benefit of the standalone is that you can completly swap the old crispy stock harness for a new one.
You should control fuel and spark.
Currently, I believe the MS1 still has the most features since many the extra code features are still in development for MS2. You can use either though, and once again you should ask your tuner to see what he is familiar with and would like to run.

Thanks thats what was looking for, he prefers Haltec but he knows how to tune the MS ecu's also. Sibce there is so many options with the MS like 2.2, 3. 3.57 and what not. Was just looking for somebody to steer me n the right direction.
The board doesn't matter, a 2.2, 3.0, or 3.57 will run a rotary just fine. I would recomend at least a 3.0 board though since it has 1 VR conditioner circut already installed. IIRC, the 3.57 board was designed for the preassembled units and has many of the IC's already installed with surface level solder joints, and it has an extra plug for more outputs.
The real decision you need to make is whether you want the MS1 CPU or the MS2 daughter board. The MS1 is the older chip that has most of the code already developed, and has been used for quite a while. The downside is that no (or at least not much) new developments will happen with this code compared to the MS2 code. At last I read, MS2 code capeable of running the rotary has been developed and released in a known working form, but if you wanted the extra features, (ie. shift lights, boost control, NOS control, etc.), than you would need to run a beta code which is still in development.
In a nutshell, MS1 currently has the most extra features in a finished form, but in all likelyhood, MS2 will be the better code in the future. Either way, both will run your motor perfectly fine right now.

Good thread - I had the same questions myself.
Wanted to verify one thing - if I get an MS1 now, I assume that a future upgrade to an MS2 is simply a matter of buying and installing the CPU daughter card and updating the firmware. Is this correct?
Thanks,
-bill
