Megasquirt Tuning maps for straight E85
Tuning maps for straight E85
Down here in Panama city, Panama there is a fuel called M4 which is going to be available soon. Its very similar to E85 and I have been reading in some other car forums that boosted cars just love it. Octane rating is above 98 in some places over 110, since is basically ethanol with a corrosion inhibitor.
So question, has anybody ran this with megasquirt? any maps (MSQs) you care to share?
thanks!

I'd keep in mind that the stoich afr for e85 is 9.0 instead of 14.7 for gasoline, i'd tune for a boosted car around 7.2 and make sure everything as far as your wide band and ms unit are set for that scale. It uses more fuel to make the engine happy so make sure your fuel system is up to par, you shouldn't have any problems tuning at lower rpm's but in the higher revs and more boost you'll run into problems.
Oh, i forgot to add e85 is 114 octane.

Also keep in mind that the E85 is a form of alcohol which means it likes to wash off oil from metal parts, beings that the natural motion of a rotary keeps the oil slung to the housing via centrifugal force there is still caution of not enough oil at any given time.
I like to keep my mechanical pump wired wide open at all times, it smokes alot at an idle and is a bit embarrassing at traffic lights but 1 quart of oil a week is cheap insurance.
