Megasquirt Trying to Stab CAS plus Timing???
Trying to Stab CAS plus Timing???
This is a strange one. Before I hooked up my Mega Squirt my race car was set up that when I hit the start switch it fired up. No throttle no problem and would idle at 1200 RPM smoothly.
I followed the instruction on how to stab the CAS and adjust the code wheel and to set the spark from -0 to -5 and all that good stuff. When I put my timing light on the engine when it is running it seams for a few seconds timing is bang on then jumps away to up to 60 deg. of advance and then back again to the proper mark. So naturally I have poor idle and super hard starting. My tach seems to reed smooth and precise to what is in the car. I’m trying to get this beast to the race track this Friday to set up the Mega Squirt but stuck at this stage. Has any one had this type of problem? Is the some thing that is set up in my program or spark timing to cause this?
Best Regards,
Kim

Make sure your plug wires are dressed away from the CAS cable. Make sure the CAS cable shield is grounded, and only on one end. Make sure the polarity of your CAS signals is correct. If they're backwards it will still run, but will be flakey.
